I dunno man... they don't call them "starving artists (musicians)" for nothing.
You know how many people have tried to talk me out of becoming a music major?! Plenty

I wish someone would just pay me to play bass. That would be fantastic - totally never going to happen!!

I used to be a music composition major (top of my class, too). Sold out in favor of survival. Decided to pursue a music career but grab a degree in physics as a fallback.

Not sure if I'm pleased or not...*back to homework*

Are you one of those rare people that I love to hate because they are brilliant in both music and the sciences?! Oooh I envy you people

Seriously, that's impressive. Shit though, I didn't know you were a composition major... that's one of the tougher majors to pursue, me thinks. I can't really decide whether to pursue the composition emphasis or the music theory emphasis... guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. First I gotta worry about getting into this school in Canada...

and I PROMISE I'm not heading up to Canada just because Devy's up there.

That's a lie. xD

Back to you entropy - tell me, do you regret taking on physics on top of all that?! Lotsa work, I'd assume?

I guess I'm one of those people. I just love them both and so I end up spending a lot of time on each. :D

As far as which emphasis to pursue, I'm not sure. I was in a program where my primary focus was composition, but I was required to have a primary instrument on which I was proficient enough to be a classical performer (piano). It's certainly a lot of practice and a lot of time spent playing around with music, but somehow I failed to see how that was a bad thing.

I go to the University of Texas at Austin (they got a HUGE endowment for the music school literally as soon as I changed majors), so I went into the physics program because I decided that I could probably still get all the musical education I "need" outside of the university and get a "real" job with a physics degree. Although, what with the recession and all, I'm not sure how feasible that will be. Physics is a metric fuck-ton of work a lot of the time, and it requires a lot of thinking, but it makes the music side of things more intimate and less regulated by what professors, etc. expect and want from me. You win some, you lose some, I suppose.

So, I can't say I regret the switch, mostly because I don't see much point in regretting anything. It's more of a challenge, I think. Anyway, enough gut-spilling. I love music and I love science! :D

And going up to Canada just for Dev is totally worth it. If I had the cash, I'd be flying up there in a heartbeat to see one of the possible shows for Ki.

Here's a random thought that I'm not sure if it has been addressed before:

Why isn't there a Zimmer's Hole sub-forum in the Brotherhood section? Not that the band has a lot going on at the moment due to them not touring and whatnot, but I was just wondering.

My other car is a Viper!!!
Actually, this was G stage of Vancouver Film Studios last year,my home away from home. The show's wrapped now execpt for some post visual effects.
Fair well BSG

Oh man! You had me going for a second - in awe and slightly scared.
Still rad!

If you don't mind me asking, was that picture taken at work? What kind of work are you in?! =O

Motion Picture, art/ bunch of stuff...

Man, that is so cool. xD
But hey we can't all be musicians. I wish I could be but I know that's totally not achieveable (with my total lack of musical skills)
So I've just done two years of art, and now I'm studying fashion. Hoping to go into costume work, so who knows maybe I'll bump into you one day :P

Costume is a huge, fasinating part of the industry! Hope you go far
:) :)

Hheehee thanks :D I've been told it's huge, I'm a little daunted. I think only three univerisites in England have a speicific costuming course.
So I'll just hope and pray that everything turns out okay. xD
It's just sunk in - You worked on BSG? Man, you get double awesome points now. I met Edward Olmos, (Admiral Adama) last year, and perhaps embarrassed myself.
He asked me what my name was and I squeaked  Lovely guy though. xD

Amber,
He's a really nice fellow. The only one of the cast I really know is Donnelly Rhodes, from working Da Vinci's Inquest and he's just an awsome, down to earth guy.
But the whole cast really stand out as great individuals.

Oh you know it brotha!!
*high fives* I know, why aren't more girls into metal? They have almost a weird aversion to it, always claiming it's "too angry," or "too heavy."
But then again, I don't pretend to understand women though, they're really really weird.

Must be, I don't actually know of any all-girl metal bands, I didn't even know such a thing exsisted!

@ Amber: Wow, that's awesome. Just promise me that when you're famous and in really high demand, that you'll create a Devy-inspired line of clothing. Ya know, chunky black shoes, oversized black or olive cargo pants, and a black wife-beater. Yeah, do it!!

Deth Warmdover -
Yeah is is pretty cool. Good job my mum was there to save the day from me looking like a total dunce :D A few times shes saved me from that.
The only time I didn't make myself a total idiot talking to someone whos sort of famous was Bruce Dickinson (if I spelt that right?) But I didn't actually realise it was him until the end of the conversation  xD
But the BSG group as a whole did stike me as a nice bunch, but I didn't have time to meet them all.

DsD:
Women are weird. xD I don't understand them either. And being on a course FULL of them, hasn't made me understand them any better.
Whenever the radio gets turned on, I feel like I'm having my soul slowly sucked away. xD

EDIT:

This is what happens when nyou have half hour of free time. xD

There you go, first of the line. xD A micky take of those t-shirts with "Love" written on them. Yes, an added question mark! Question those "Love" t-shirt wearers xD
Here, it is combined with some vaguely olive coloured baggy trousers, with plenty of pockets o. And for a speical touch, some giant chunky zips.
Complete with a chunky zip head band. xD

I think maybe I should go and do something productive now. xD

Nobody could save me from the same kinda freeze up when I met Devin Townsend at a meet and greet before the concert I showed the clip of abit earlier.
All I could do was shake his hand and say vacuously,' I just think your fantastic!'with a stupid grin on my face. Then I had a chance to talk to him again, with my 'intelligent' question and statement all worked out in my head but all that came out was ;" I just think your fantastic ,look forward to the concert!".....soooooo lame.. :?
At the concert that night, when I was right up front, Devin was doing some between song banter and said." I was trying to think of something eloquint to say but all that came out was..BBLLLAAARRRRALLAGARLLLLLGLBLARG!!!!!" and he looked right at me! :P  I'm pretty sure he was teasing me for being such a dumb ass....and that's cool :D
