I went to Mayhem Fest the other day...saw lots of bands but Behemoth blew them all outta the water. Right before they took the stage there was a bolt of lightning and a downpour started during their first song and lasted through the whole set. I read on the news that an F2 tornado from the same storm apparently took out a town 40 miles to the southeast  Best show of the day and probably the best of the summer for me.

Anyway I took this vid, I'm uploading the entire show on a website i'm involved with so i'll post the link later if anyone's interested

saw a couple of bands at Wacken...the billing wasn't that great, kind of disappointing for a 20th anniversary. Anyways, I saw Heaven & Hell, which actually was a pretty fucking good show, really enjoyed it. I also saw Motörhead, they're always fun to watch and I enjoyed that gig too. I saw In Flames, it was good but I just hate it when they go all whiney...almost like a friggin' Emo band. I saw a little bit of Amon Amarth, it bored me so I left after one song. Grand Magus were great, the sound was a bit 'meh' in the beginning but once they got that fixed it was one cool show. I also saw Sarke and at the end of the set, Tom Gabriel Fischer from Celtic Frost joined them on stage and they performed together. Was a pretty neat thing to see Nocturno Culto and Tom Gabriel Fischer on one stage. I think that's all I saw. Next up is the Party.San festival. Can't wait to see Misery Index there.

VNV nation. It's so nice to break out of the metal show trend of being shoved and run into. Hell of a show, too. My only complaint is that I was entirely too sober.

Went to the Thrash and Burn tour tonight. A lot of eh bands and a bunch of crap bands.

Only 2 really worth mentioning are Periphery and Veil of Maya

Periphery was astounding. Chris is an amazing vocalist, even live. Most of the people in the crowd didnt know what to do when they came on, because they were so different than the rest of the bands there. Met Bulb and Nolly (guy who did a ton of Sikth covers on youtube) and they were both really awesome guys.

Veil of Maya was perfect. They played everything flawlessly and they REALLY got the crowd going. Needless to say, I am very sore from their set haha.

Audioriver, as unmetal as it's physically possible. T'was electronic music festival in Plock, Poland, featuring seventy-something performers of less popular electronic music (from DJs to full on bands), everything located on nice beach over Vistula river.

Bestest thing I've seen there was Moderat, three German blokes playing music which lastfm have no idea what genre it is. It's catchy and atmospheric anyway - more song oriented than trancey. They looked onstage like sort of three-person Kraftwerk, each of them with his own table with synths, laptops (and occasional guitar). May sound shit for anyone used to proper gigs, but it was entertaining enough - with rather massive LED screen displaying abstract animations, some singing, screwing with effects and incredibly good sound (massive yet perfectly balanced and selective, main stage was great) they rocked pretty hard. So hard, that mr. Photographer (serious dude with big lens and photo pass dangling on his neck), who was taking their photos on stage suddenly start busting the moves, which was immensely entertaining.

They looked liek that

And here's pretty video to one of their songs:

I've also seen little bit of Telefon Tel Aviv's set, which I guess was even more melancholy-filled than usual (one of them died few months ago, they're touring now with a new dude), and set of Ulrich Schnauss, which to be honest was pretty underwhelming - sound in the tent where it was pretty horrible, way too loud and bassy for such music (it had to fight with sound from neighboring main stage), also it was 4AM, so mr. Ulrich was playing mainly for sleeping people and some zombies. Also, well, it's just one dude with a laptop and some MIDI controllers, so all he does is mixing set of his own material, not particularly flashy (not that I expected anything other). Still like him though.

There was also cheery Kamp!, which was three dudes playing D-drums, some synths and guitar to the sequenced beats(more in vein of live performance with lots of solo parts than just turning knobs and generally doing fuck all), Joakim and The Disco, which was only proper band with drums, bass and shit that night (and which was at the same time pretty dissapointing) and massive stream of brain flattening drum and bass(kick-snare,kicksnare, "get your fuckin hands to tha aaaaair", repeat for two hours).

Moderat will be a support for Radiohead on their Polish show - pretty unusual, but I hope people will receive them as well as I did.

saw pretty much all bands at the Party.San festival as our store was close to the stage. But the bands that really kicked ass last weekend were Brujeria, Misery Index and Satyricon. Hate Eternal, Rotten Sound and others were good too.
next up, the last festival of the year for me, Summer Breeze Open air. The billing is really good this year again. http://www.summer-breeze.de/site.php?na ... le=billing
I purchased a digital camera today and shall come home with a shitload of pictures.

I saw Tori Amos over the weekend. She is one of the best live performers I've probably seen.

Oh really?!
What songs did she play? Did you get any pictures or anything? It's probably hard to take pictures when you're mesmerized, eh? :D

I'm quite jealous!

I got some pretty cool pictures!! I got to meet her before the show as well. She did a Meet and Greet for all the fans that were out waiting (probably about 50-60 people). She was very nice and gave me a hug! :)

Here's the setlist:

Cornflake Girl
Starling
Crucify
Ireland
Welcome to England

LIZARD LOUNGE

Here are some pictures. I just had my crappy digital and didn't want to use the flash to disturb everyone else there. Please ignore my cheesy grin!! hehe!

EDIT: I am the brunette in the pic with Tori. I forgot I had pictures of my friend in that album.

That is a great setlist. Oh wow, a meet and greet! That's pretty nice of her, I love when people do that, it makes me feel like they still really care about the fans :] That's a great picture, what are you talking about lol Glad you had a good time!
I'm ashamed to say though, that I don't yet have the new CD  I've been wanting it for a while though! What's your verdict? I mean, I assume it's great, but what do you think about it?
