Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

Mmmm, that takes me back to last year when I saw Opeth together with The Ocean and Cynic. Definitely in the top 5 of best gigs I've attended. When they played Deliverance I.. dare I say it.. jizzed a little. :P

Any other acts there or was it just pure Opeth awesomeness for the evening?

They were on tour with Enslaved.

Although I'd rather see Cynic. In fact, the last gig I saw was them with Meshuggah.

Although DsD's setlist looks so beautiful...

They played Serenity Painted Death last time I saw them, that almost makes up for Hessian Peel. Godhead's Lament isnt one of my favorite songs of theirs, but I love to see any song off Still Life live.

Ha, I'm sure a lot of guys there were a little excited when they played it. :)

Yup Enslaved. I wasn't so much a fan =/ I just couldn't get into it. The setlist was surprisingly cool. I liked the mix up of heavy, pretty, heavy, pretty. It was sweet :)

Enslaved are awesome, you hear me?

So last Friday I saw Left. They're a local band (no-where near metal) that I've seen half a dozen times by now, but they're always good. This was their album release party, they played a great show although a bit short. Album turned out pretty good too!

To be honest I wished they were playing something else than Godhead's Lament, there's something about the tone when Fredrik is playing the lead that sounds absolutely horrible D: I need to see Harvest...

 Nah I know lots of people here like them. The drummer was cool though - I just wasn't really feeling the bass, or the singer... was a little more screechy than I like :|
I just preferred Mikael-style so much more. Akerfeldt's growls have more depth to them, his voice is super deep, he has excellent articulation, it's consistent - it's just more appealing to me.

Really? At the show I saw, he did do this crazy little guitar freak-out solo when Mikael re-introduced all the band members at the end. Sweep-picking all over the place :o T'was really impressive ... then someone in the crowd shouted "WHO ARE YOOOUUU?" at Akerfeldt

I still think I would have been a better replacement for Peter than Fredrik could ever be. I mean, if it were me in Opeth we wouldn't have to suffer through a song like Porcelain Heart! :P

Porcelain Heart is beautiful! Oh no.... you're one of those fans who only likes the really really heavy stuff and absolutely hates Damnation, and all the other "pussy" songs, as Akerfeldt has called them? :?

Damnation is one of my favorite Opeth CD's. I know that's not the consensus among hardcore fans, but it is absolutely beautiful. :)

I am NOT Biert...just a quick FYI ;)

I just think Porcelain Heart is very uninspired, it's boring, and it doesn't sound like Opeth. The acoustic breakdown was all too typical and predictable. Porcelain Heart is probably one of my least favorite Opeth songs. Fredrik has really brought nothing good to the band. He brought that oh so typical shredding aspect that so many kids today seem to love. His soloing is only good sometimes. Burden has some decent solos, but he just doesn't have the feel that Peter had.

Damnation happens to be one of my favorite albums of theirs as a matter of fact!
