Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

Omnium Gatherum - Played excellent, a bit short but really enjoyable :)
Severe Torture - Boooring! Seriously, how about some variation? And how about the double kick not drowning out all other sound?
Grave - Never heard them before, they were quite good.
Nile - Technically, they're all great at playing their instrument, but they do need a lesson in song writing. Skip the slow parts mates!

All in one night, not too bad :)

Secret Chiefs 3

Wow!
really impressive! they were really having fun during the show and gave 3 encores.
they played all of my favourite songs and a new one called brazen serpent, which has to be one of the best songs i have ever heared in my life!!
Trey Spurance is god, i already was impressed with his stuff from Mr Bungle but last night he left me speechless!
best show of 2008 for me!

I think what Nile should ideally do is INDULGE in the 'slow' shit. Because outside of that, they're run-of-the-mill death metal.

Also not to keen on blastey parts. On the other hand, I think it's physically impossible to write heavier thing that low riff in Sarcophagus (I'm holding opinion that "lotsa blast" do not equal "heavy"). Megaton stuff. I'd give them more attention if they have more of this.

But the slow stuff is boring! :P

I'd see them too, stumbled over video of theirs on djskrimps myspack profile and I'm hooked since then. Even my bro who usually loves electronic stuff is astonished (which in his case means torrenting the shit out of the band, but it doesn't matter, I've ordered the records anyway).

Opeth, and my god did they play an incredible set. I'd have only changed out maybe 2 songs to make it better.

Set list was:
Heir Apparent
The Grand Conjuration
Serenity Painted Death
Hope Leaves
The Lotus Eater
Bleak
The Night and the Silent Water
Deliverance
Demon of the Fall
Encore: The Drapery Falls

I couldn't believe they played Serenity Painted Death and The Night and the Silent Water. I'd definitely change out The Grand Conjuration for Ghost of Perdition. And maybe The Drapery Falls for The Leper Affinity.

Overall it was amazing. Deliverance was intense as can be, and the ending of The Drapery Falls was awesome when the song broke into those last 2 heavy part before the recapitulation of the intro. The crowd just went nuts during those 2 parts but calmed down as soon as they went back to the clean parts.

I'd easily say it was the best show I've ever been to.

Twas a great night. Tiny little venue. Bout.. not even 100 people I'd say.. Brilliant, and the projection they use goes along very nicely with the music. They'll be back in February or March when the new album is out. Can't wait! You two should keep an eye out around then cos they might venture over to ye when that one's out and about.
