Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

By the way I'm sorry for doubleposting but I think this is a better way to catch attention with this kind of thing than creating a new topic. Anyway.

I'm planning a trip to somewhere in Europe for 4 to 5 weeks and I thought it'd be pretty cool to see some bands there that rarely come to Finland. So. Is there anywhere a festival finder website or some kind of google for gigs in the internet?

Here's a crappy video I took:

So crappy I can't see it. :(

Aha, I see, thanks. I figured it was my AdBlock plugin or something preventing me from seeing it. Which doesn't really make sense, now that I think about it.

Try http://www.last.fm/events perhaps? Not exactly complete but handy anyway :)

Saw Ephel Duath last night. Although they played well, it wasn't really spectacular to see. Their drummer is fairly new, so he was playing everything 'from paper', the guitar player did just that, play guitar and nothing more. And the singer did the same thing over and over again, yell at the audience and move his hand with the rhythm. And the bassist... well they have no bassist anymore, which is a shame really.

Conclusion: get the CD instead ;)

Yep, apparently the guy who played yesterday is only playing for them this tour, and for the studio they have Marco Minneman now. The drummer you mean quit right after the recording of Pain Necessary To Know apparently.

That stinks. Well, I shouldn't be too rueful. They'll probably find a serviceable guy, and if it's Minneman on their next record I won't be pulling hairs. He's a good drummer.

But listening to both their last two albums, especially APP, he seems like far too important a cog to replace.

They have a new album out soon by any chance?

Yeah I think they've been working on it. Not sure if they have recorded anything yet, but I believe it's supposed to be released this year.

Whoops, didn't see this thread before.

Paul Gilbert & Joe Satriani - they were both absolutely phenomenal, and I was pretty drunk so got well into it 8)

Pinkpop festival:

SAT2D - Quite nice, local band that won a coverband contest or something. Two chicks in the band!
Animal Alpha - Totally weird frontwoman, but quite nice to listen to.
Porcupine Tree (2 songs) - Booooooooooring! Misplaced at this festival but I was surprised how many fans there were.
Alter Bridge - Went there when I left PT, they were much better.
Incubus - Not quite what I expected.
Metallica - Exceeded my expectations by miles and miles, they were actually quite good and spectacular. I thought they had lost it but perhaps they found it back.
Eagles Of Death Metal - Total character frontman, great show.
KT Tunstall - Not as good as I expected but still good to listen to.
Foo Fighters - FUCK YEAH! I gave my voice to Dave Grohl that night. Dave if you read this, I want it back. I was practically front-row and the Foo's fucking slayed.
Cavalera Conspiracy - Totally misplaced here like PT but they were cool nevertheless and got a hell of a pit going with 30+ degrees Celsius.
Serj Tankian - Pretty good.
Queens of the Stone Age - They totally suck, live. I love the Songs For The Deaf CD but their others are boring, and live there is totally no atmosphere or stage presence.
Rage Against The Machine - Completely inter-swappable songs (put in a new guitar riff and a new lyric and you've got yourself a new song!) but somehow the crowd went mad.

I also wanted to see some of Kate Nash she was planned back to back with Cavalera Conspiracy and Amy MacDonald was late (and scheduled during EoDM).

I had a total blast, was there with 13 friends and we laughed our asses off and all that... Good times!
