Crack the Skye is a masterpiece, I would be so surprised if The Hunter was better. Really looking forward to it though, gonna wait until release to listen. Good to hear it's good though.

That new Megadeth song is pretty awesome, I've been digging it.

Picked up the new Opeth album and I've finally gotten to listen. Wow, if there's any album that's gonna take a lot of listens to fully get it's gotta be this one. Really liking what I heard on the first spin but it's gonna need a lot more for me to fully understand it. LOVED Famine though, what a funky song. The Jethro Tull, Aqua Lung-y flute is way cool. I really like what Mikael did with the gloominess-- it's not usual Opeth darkness but it still feels like them and just invokes the dark in a very different way. I didn't miss the screams a whole lot, I love Damnation after all, but I do agree with some of the people who have said that there are points in certain songs where the harsh vocals would fit nicely. But major props to the band for taking a different road with Heritage.

Cynthesis - DeEvolution. I was floored by this album, but found that nobody even on the internet seems to have any clue about this band/album. Amazing stuff, maybe some guys and gals here will appreciate the atmosphere and superb vocals.

just remembered someone asked for cool versions of "Ghost Riders in the sky" on here a while back, sorry for the delay, but this version is pretty sweet:

What a great venue to see them at, too. The Catalyst in Santa Cruz is awesome.

It's probably better than any venue of its size until you get to San Francisco.

also this. i love the texture so much. this whole album is an absolute masterpiece. i'd been listening to peter gabriel for almost 10 years before i actually heard it which is really weird and i have no idea how that happened. i always liked film scores so that shouldn't have been a hindrance.

i'm having a music nerd night. feelsgoodman.jpg
