Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

I admit I prefer the new Supreme Pain album to this, but this is still good & brutal stuff.

i must say ulver is one of my absolute fave bands evar. so it pains me to admit that the last album was meh-ish at best. february mmx is fantastic, but the rest is rather forgettable :(

Just heard this on the radio a few minutes ago, thought I'd share:

This should vindicate Dev with mixing humor and metal.

Being a huge fan as well... it's a step below Blood Inside and Shadows of the Sun, in terms of overall cohesiveness and quality of content, but it's still damn good regardless. Island, despite being my favorite track, just feels... out of place? compared to the rest. Like, it has this warm, breezy, almost tropical feel to it; the rest feels very cold, airy, sometimes even damp. Stone Angels, while also brilliant, probably should have been on another album - perhaps one consisting of nothing but pieces like it. WOTR seems very song-oriented, and it just sort of breaks up the identity I felt the record was trying to establish up until that point.

I'd say, just keep listening, and eventually it'll probably click with one or both of you. September IV/England/Island may very well be the best trio of songs they've ever written... and who says Garm can't sing high anymore?

As for what I've been listening to:

Despite these guys not being afraid to wear their influences on their sleeves, this is a superb piece of work. Got my copy early from CMDistro (imagine that!) and I'm nine listens in so far... seriously great stuff. Mb. Indifferentia and Painful Detour are my favorite tracks (though it's been changing daily)...

Can't stop listening to this band. Everything about the music, the riffs, vocal melodies, just hits me.
