Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

He sounds like heavy Ian Hammer in places. Which is awesome.

Yep, but there's fair amount of rather heavy riffs in there. By the way, the dude's 17. Pretty good start, huh.

Really? Maybe since my taste is pretty different from the rest of you guys, I didn't give it much of a chance after I heard the lead single.

Is the rest of the album better? (I really really hope)

I think so...but then again that is just my opinion. The CD could be a load of crap to others

Dimmu Borgir - Abrahdabra

NOT digging this one as much as I had hoped. Guitars are barely audible, most of the songs sound like they could have been on Enthrone Darkness (not a bad thing, that album ruled...but they already did that album). The orchestration is great though.

Vortex is definitely missed. Death Cult is far better, the production is better, and the songs were better.

That was my observation as well, sadly. Death Cult just had this kinda Disney over the top bombastic pure sound, that I bought hook line and sinker when I was 17.

Regardless, Death Cult is more fun to listen to and more memorable. The only parts of the new album that are sticking with me are the female vocals on Gateways (the good ones, not the weird ones early on) and the chants on Endings.
