Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

There seems to be some weird personal dynamic between Lars and every Bassist since Cliff.
It probably stems from the fact he has no rhythm whatsoever.

Don't get me wrong. Metallica are and will always be one of my favourite bands of all time but I just can't stand that little Danish git. They did the same thing with Rob Trujillo on Death Magnetic. You can download the Deceifer remix of that album and it really makes a difference.

Also, check out their Download set from a few years ago when Lars didn't show up. his drum tech showed him up, then Joey Jordison completely blew him away.
It's amazing to think how incredible 'tallica could be with someone like Sean Reinhart or Gene Hoglan behind the kit.

Oh... and back on topic...

I'm listening to
The Golden Hour by Firewater and
It's Monster Surfin' Time by The Deadly Ones

Really loving Firewater. They're the band started by the lead singer of Cop shoot Cop.
Exactly the kind of music I was hoping for from one of the brains behind Room 429. It's right where I am at the moment.
I shall be adding the rest of their Discography to my library very soon.

The Deadly Ones are pretty friggin' fantastic too.

Since they released the whole album for Guitar Hero, the people working on GH had to remix the album as well to make everything more audible. In the process someone ripped the GH tracks and put them online and they sound miles ahead of the actual album mix()if a little quieter.)

I'm pretty sure that's where the Deceifer remix came from alright.
And turning the old MP3 player up a couple notches is a small price to pay for a good bass track.

And Dave Lombardo. Love what he did to Battery :)

Oh and for the Death Magnetic remix loudness thing: hmmm, mp3gain :)

Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza - I Am Sammy Jankins

Never really got into these guys until I heard this song. Pretty standard chuggy 8 string work with some insanity thrown in for good measure. Kinda like old Ion Dissonance, plus these guys put on a great show.

The Obsidian Conspiracy.

Hmmm. Seems like a throwback. Very much so. Not sure what that means. I mean, I really like DHIADW when it came out the first time.....

I was unimpressed by it. This Godless Endeavor is still miles ahead of it. I had such high hopes too, they chose an awesome name for the album and some riffs in the first song and the leaked title track were awesome. The rest of the album fell flat for me and was just forgettable =/

Listening to it now, and I'm getting those same vibes. It's a very weak throwback, and it's way behind DHiaDW and TGE. Five years, and TOC sounds like a pretty uninspired 45 minutes. It has its moments, but they're always bookended by garbage.

At least Loomis's solo album was excellent...I think I'll listen to that now.
