Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

One of the most underrated and under-appreciated albums of all time. It also doesn't get near the credit it deserves for starting the tech wave so many bands signed up for...including my own.

I don't doubt for a second it's influential. I can hear it's influence...are you aware of the Aussie band 'Alarum'? (if not, check them out: http://www.myspace.com/alarummusic Especially the song 'Remote Viewing', it's awesome!). I was listening to Focus for the first time thinking 'My God, I can hear where Alarum got their influence from....'
There's some sort of effect over them in the verses (you can clearly hear when Anneke takes a breath), but they don't sound auto-tuned.
Perhaps they are pitch-corrected, but then it'd probably be just to get the vocals perfectly in tune with the rest of the music. This is commonly a correction of a few Hz so in practice you wouldn't even be able to hear those minor alterations. Definitely no Attack Attack! -style autotune business that I've picked up,
except for maybe the EE-II-UU-AA thing leading into the first chorus.
But that's just cool. :P

Yeah, fortunately not a crabcore "quality", but still feels rather unnatural in places (counting that really fuckin weird pitch bend :) ). I usually don't have problems with tons of FX applied to everything (Devin does it since the beginning and I love it), but I have "damn, human voice doesn't sound this way!" moments when hearing radical meddling with pitch.

Hildur Gudnadóttir
'Without Sinking'

She's an Icelandic cellist that's worked previously with Pan Sonic, Throbbing Gristle, Johann Johannsson, Skúli Sverrisson and Ben Frost among others, as well as being a member of Iceland's Kitchen Motors collective. When you say it's an album of her primarily playing cello it probably doesn't make you spring into interest but some of the tones and sounds she forges are simply breathtaking.

I needed something non-rock/pop to try and freshen my head after a few days on pretty much constant 'Addicted' and this is now one of my albums of the year. A great album indeed.

My newest song. Still havent thought up a name for it, but it sounds like a monster because of my new 8 string tone.

Patton needs to stop being so consistently wonderful.
