Nah, I don't know why Dev went back on that but I think that having a few swearwords here and there adds to the feel of the album.

As an artist, you have to be honest with yourself. If you make a statement like Dev did and say "there will be no swearing," then as an artist you are hampering the creative flow by creating filters. 'Deconstruction' is very "stream of consciousness," and to go back and edit that just for the sake of doing it defeats the purpose and takes some of the honesty out of the narrative.

Also the swearing in this, despite it's stream conscious, was far faaaaar more deliberate.

Fo sho, fo sho. It's fun to experience how a creative process can change and mature overtime.

To be honest, It happens all the time - Dev has one plan when things start out but it evolves and changes into something different. It's just all part of the creative process

"Smoke that fucking weed" is really the only way to add a sense of intense loathing to that statement. I would hardly call it "swearing" in this case, as its being used properly.

Deconstruction the song on the other hand, well...it's all bullshit!

Let me paraphrase the bibble: The day you can unequivocally do as you state you will all the time, without fail is the day you can expect anyone else to.

"You" as in anyone. Not directed towards anyone in particular.

"There's no swearing" probably meant there was no SYL-style, "fuck" every other syllable-style swearing. Or perhaps he meant it at the time, but found that it was appropriate for the lyric, as mentioned above; either way it was all contextual, and fleeting, so.

Debated on it, then went for it. Needed to get over it I guess.
