Had a mini-Devin Townsend party last night; rate it

So a friend of ours just last night decided that he wanted to listen to more Devin Townsend. We were hanging out at his house (we being I, he, and two other friends [both DevHeads]) and "By Your Command" came onto shuffle. He was so impressed with it that he asked if we would mind only listening to Devin Townsend for the remainder of the night (which was, of course, agreed upon unanimously). After we went to sleep, we resumed listening to more this morning.

Anyway, we're going to have a big Devin Townsend listening party now as well (probably after I complete my Top DT songs list), but I think the "Setlist" of last night was pretty good. What do you think?

1. By Your Command
2. Funeral
3. The Greys
4. Life
5. Judgement
6. Planet Smasher
7. Earth Day
8. Random Analysis
9. Ziltoidia Attaxx!!!
10. Hyperdrive (2007)
11. Noisy Pink Bubbles
12. Christeen
13. Hyperdrive (2009)

[sleep]

14. Mountain
15. Regulator
16. Night
17. A Simple Lullaby
18. Sunday Afternoon
19. Solar Winds

Very nice! I'm pretty sure that anyone I've ever recommended Devy to (and they of course give him a serious listen) have loved him. Turning people on to Dev's music gives me a great feeling inside.

That setlist is kinda cool but in my opinion (o humble, so humble) I don't listen to Dev's songs individually. I prefer to pick one album and listen from Start to End. That way I kinda understand more the album you know ? If you take Greetings from Ocean Machine for exemple : I like to think it as a way to ''split'' the album in two. I can't listen to Truth all alone by itself (although it's an AMAZING SONG !!!) cause I think it's not right to do so... I mean it takes you to some crazy white lighted planet of crazies infinities and when the door for the Vessel opens up, you can't just switch and go listen to something else, you need the whole Infinity Album.

I hope you get my point 'cause I don't.
Peace, deep peace !

Yeah, I'm a big fan of going right through albums from start to finish. That way you see the material as a whole, as a single entity, as a single experience. Album structure is still as important as it was in the 60 and 70s with vinyls. I've found Terria and Synchestra are beautifully structured. The slow down for a track or two near the end is brilliant (eg. Nobody's Here - Tiny Tears). Also, all Pink Floyd albums had great flow. Same with Rush and Dream Theater.

I wish my friends liked Dev...

I threw on Addicted and my friend called it "stupid screamo"

She listens to Demi Lovato and Paramore and generally acts like she is 12, so I really couldn't expect much more from her, you know?

Your friend, does she have to wear a helmet when she gets in the car or sits in a chair?
