Setlist musings

G'day all. I know there was a thread on what song you would LIKE to see Dev play live on this tour, but roughly what do you think an entire setlist will look like? What songs HAVE to be there? Will it be fairly well dominated by Ki and Addicted? Will all the solo records be touched upon?
The reason being is that I'm bringing some potential new Devin fans to the Sydney show, and I want to have them get to know a fair few of Dev's songs, coz you always enjoy a concert more when you know some or all of the tunes. I want to make some 'mixtapes' of Devin for them.

I reckon these songs are must-plays:
Life
Earth Day
Seventh Wave
Christeen
Storm
Suicide
Hyperdrive
Triumph
Vampira
And of course heaps of stuff from the 2 newies.

What do you think?

Considering how the AUS. tour will be roughly two hours, here's what I'd love to hear DT and Boys (and Lady) played (and possibly audio and/or video) bootlegged for :

Truth
Addicted!
Storm
Namaste
Vampolka
Vampira
Coast
Mountain
Life
Universe In A Ball!
Planet Smasher
Disruptr
Supercrush
Christeen
Gaia
Regulator
Earth Day
Bad Devil
Numbered!
Hyperdrive (Addicted Version)
Ki
-----
Fake Punk
Slow Me Down

(Setlist 1:51:38...to give time for tuning and bullshitting with the crowd)

I'm more interested in seeing a set of Ziltoid/Ki/Addicted songs...with a possible teaser song or two from Decon. or Ghost (both!). The old stuff is great and I'm sure it would be amazing to see live (I've never seen Devin or Strapping), but this is a new time and a new Townsend. My pants-creaming fantasy would be to see Ki played in its entirety. I could be satisfied with just that and nothing else.

Eh...

He will play.

It will be good.

EDIT: I just realized that this post looks more like it belongs in the other setlist thread. Oh well...

This plus some dynamic laser lights and some free glow sticks for the crowd and I'd say you're on to something here.

MUST-plays are easy to mention:

Addicted (opener)
DEADHEAD (!)
Storm
Numbered!
Mountain (!)
Earth Day
Away/Deep Peace
Life
Hyperdrive (both versions at once, just like the mix sb put on here)
Hypergeek
Vampira
WAR (!)
Colour Your World
Supercrush!
Resolve!
Trainfire
Ki
Christeen

I could imagine a setlist like this very well.. many songs are missing, but every tune of those songs would rock - so they CAN NOT be declined

What about 'Regulator'? A must?

That's the thing, so many songs could be considered a "must" and with this first outing there's only a half our spot. I could see there being maybe one song from albums before Ziltoid, but...with only about 5 songs to work with, I could see more of a two-from-Addicted-two-from-Ki-one-from-Ziltoid thing going on. Or...three from Addicted? Some variation of that.

But also, I realize that you're talking about Australia....

Headlining set.

Lucky bastard.

this would most likely be very unlikely and too long but my ideal setlist would go something like this...

open with addicted. then.
universe in a ball
regulator
kingdom
planet rain
hypergeek
triumph
vampira
judgement
away
deep peace
truth
bad devil
storm
deadhead
suicide
color your world
the greys
coast
terminal
numbered (with the chior would be wicked)
encore - the way home

AND Europe :guitar:

well, I think for his 30-minute slot he will play 2 from addicted (if possible, who's gonna take Anneke's voiceparts?), 1 from Ki, 1 Ziltoid and one or two classics..
