Two of my favourite vocalists ever... could this happen? Have they ever spoken?
Don't wanna put words in Dev's mouth, BUT... if I remember right, he mentioned in a tweet a few years back that he suspects Patton not to be a fan of his work. So, chances are... probably not. Color me curious as to what that collab would look like if it ever DID happen, though...

Aw, really? That's somewhat surprising to me. I know Devin is a fan of Patton's stuff, at least Faith No More and Mr. Bungle.
I got a reply from Devin on Twitter!
"Yeah, I have a feeling we may speak different languages. I love him hugely though. One of the best."

This is one that's been visited a few times over the years. Not to downplay your curiosity though... quite the opposite, it's something a lot of fans have wondered.
Although they do have quite a bit in common in some respects they also seem to be existing on slightly different planes.
Funny how they share a lot of fans bit seem to run parallel to each other. Meh, they both make interesting music, so we still win as listeners.
Oh, and I wouldn't say Patton dislikes all of Dev's stuff. In programming Rage many years ago (Rage being an iconic Aussie music video show, for those who don't know), he played Detox and said how much he enjoyed SYL.

I'm going to start this with this is entirely bullshit from my head, but the way I've always seen it, as nice as both of them are, neither of them seem to be likely to take the back seat on the complicated proggy side. Because at that point, it seems like dev would rather play bass on a weird spooky country record and Mike would probably prefer to make an acapella noisescape.
Too similar but not on the same wavelength, y'know?
Or maybe dev ran over mike's dog or something

It would be interesting if they agreed to do a split. That will likely never happen, but it would be the closest to a collaboration that I can think of. No doubt Patton would claim side A.
