The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

I'm really excited about Retinal Circus, and have my tickets booked, and have been thinking about what I'd like to see played in that context. Much as I'm a huge fan, having seen Dev live a bunch of times over the years, from City up to now, I'm always up for new things, and there are some songs that I love (Deadhead and Seventh Wave spring to mind) that I've seen live enough, and would love to see some less obvious gems aired. So, for what it's worth, here are the songs I'd love to see at Retinal Circus (roughly in chronological order).

Life
3AM
Life Is All Dynamics
Ants
Material
Death
Kingdom
Mountain
Zen
Hypergeek
Triumph
Monument
Almost Again
Ki
Numbered
Sumeria
Poltergeist
Seams

Not necessarily in that order, but that would make me a very happy boy!

Stand and Supercrush with an orchestra. Also live Meatball, including the upside down mouth things :D

I'm more interested in seeing what bizarre and wonderful entertainment he's got to go along with it all. If there's a giant inflatable anything I'll probably wee a little.

I think it should start with Seventh Wave because it's a fantastic intro song that would work perfectly with a choir and an orchestra before the band kick in. And starting it in total darkness with some visuals of satellite video of earth with the spoken word....kinda looks epic in my head. Also as it's the first "Devin Townsend" album, it's kinda symbolic...or some shiiiiiii

I like that. I get chills thinking about it.

I won't be at the show ( unfortunately :( ) but I'll obviously be catching it on DVD. So I gots some preferences meself, as much as I like the idea of opening with Seventh Wave, let me just throw my hypothetical two-cents. Remember, hypothetical . Let's just say Dev decided to do some Strapping at the show (and I mean not just the songs that he says he would probably play), it would be interesting if the show opened with the song "SYL". It would be kind of appropriate considering, for many, that was the first song that introduced the 'World of Devy'. Plus, with the choir, the creepy ambient part at the beginning would be pretty damn kick ass.

Doubt it would actually happen, but it'd be pretty damn sweet.

I've basically seen everything on my dev bucket list at this point, except for one song.

For me I think the show stopper would be for the following, final song in the set before the encore:

Imagine a full set with the orchestra, jugglers, fire breathers and all of that crazy shit that's promised, and then for one final song everything goes dark. One spotlight on Dev, and just him singing The Death of Music.

Anything else is gravy and awesome, and I certainly expect you ladies to swing dance with me to Bad Devil.

Seconded on all of the above...although I'm hoping the orchestra joins in for TDoM in this plan - would be sweet!

That and 22 have to support just cos I love em and they would be a great fit IMO

Hell, I think the whole last half of Ocean Machine should be done. But The Death of Music should definitely be done one way or another.

The Death of Music. I don't care if that's the only thing he plays, he must play The Death of Music. Best song he's done, and he's never played it live to my knowledge - this would be perfect.

Beyond that, my other favorites, Earth Day and Ki, would be nice, as well as the essentials like Bad Devil, Kingdom, Addicted and such, since I've never seen him before.

Regardless of the setlist, it's gonna be incredible. I can't wait to see what he does with it.

I totally wholeheartedly agree with Violet on the Seventh Wave intro to the show, and Cody on the Bad Devil swing dance that must be had. As for me, the big song on wish list I haven't seen yet is Slow Me Down, Ih-ah, and TMM, even though I know those have been played elsewhere. Really, anything Dev does I'll be happy with--after all, I'm in fucking LONDON surrounded by so many other awesome Dev fans, there's no way I won't enjoy it.

SO. EXCITED. GAFAFIOAFOWNWIRPNVP

^ I keep misreading it as Rectal Circus. It's slightly disconcerting.

That sounds like it's worth betting on!
