A standard 7-string set will fit a baritone scale neck no problem. Guitar strings are usually pretty long and you'll -always- have to cut off excess string, even on a baritone scale neck. I use standard skinny-top heavy bottom strings 10-52's, then buy an additional string for the 7th. Gauge depending on what I'm tuning to. Most of the time its GCGCGCE, in which case a .60 usually does fine for the top string. It doesn't get used a -lot-, but its fun to have there :)

the scale length alone makes it so much more awesome than most other baritone 7 strings on the market. it also has the added bonus of looking unusual and daring :)

Not to mention the other added bonus of bragging to (most) other guitarists that yours is at least 1 inch longer. :D

For those of us that don't have alien fingers like Devy, it can be a double edged sword :P The 27" scale on my 7 is already a bear to deal with, I can't imagine another inch. Regardless, I still can't wait 'til I can go buy/order one :D So, this and the PRS Akerfeldt SE *sigh* this is going to be an expensive year for gear :D

I've already put in a call to a large US retailer to find this guitar for me.. nearly 10 days later, no word back.

If anyone has intel on availability, or better yet, any retailer who might have one in stock, please let me (us!) know.
I'll buy immediately... thx r0r0

They aren't available yet - Nate @ Peavey told me they probably won't be on sale til around May.

I was at a Peavey dealer last week and asked about the guitar. The store knew nothing about it so they called thier Peavey Rep.

I was told that July would be the earliest availability. More likely it would be in the fall. They also told me that I would have to special order the guitar to purchase it. The store had not done well with the PDX series and they do not do well with 7 or 8 strings so would not be stocking this model.

I simply said that anyone that purchases a guitar before playing it is a moron. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

FYI all.

It seems that peavy have no inclination to actually make this 7 string sig series had my local guitar dealer chasing them up this week with no clear result besides peavy sucking ass !!
If anyone knows of the actual existence of this 7 string in an availble manner post it here
Cheers

The guitar just looks fucking cool to me. I've always wanted a 7-string, I've always wanted a flying V, and this one looks awesome. If it sounds great, even better. If not, I am confident I can tweak it to sound better.

And it has glowy fret markers on the side of the neck. That can't be emphasized enough. Glowy.

I will say that I do pause at the no-whammy bar. Not that I ever really use the things anymore, but it is a security thing. Fucked up a note? Dive-bomb! Eeeeeeeyoooooooooowwwwwwwwwww!!!! lol
