If you're not afraid of covers check out BTBAM's 'The Anatomy Of' album. All covers that shows their variety of playing styles and level of musicianship. Then when you're done with that get Colors. The other stuff is more aggressive, but Colors has a good blend.

horrible idea. the covers album is okay but if you can't get into colors or the great misdirect from the get-go, something's wrong with you. metal masterpieces

I love Alaska and Colors but I really can't get into The Great Misdirect. Don't know why, it just doesn't grab me. After I heard it for the first time, I thought "hmm there was a horse somewhere... but nothing else stuck". And moved on to another album. It's just not very good.

Something must be horribly wrong with me.

Most of my friends like BTBAM and play them constantly.

I've had cds burned for me, all kinds of shit.

I do not like them.

According to the man himself in the quite insane chat session last night his set on this tour will be 30 minutes long, for anyone who was wondering.

Man, that sucks. I'm kind of glad I didn't get my tickets yet. It's only ~$25 after fees and taxes, but I was going to take the kids. Hopefully he'll come back around soon on a tour that allows for at least an hour.

Still, my wife and I will probably go. Can't go wrong with Dev and Cynic. I'm not sold on Between the Buried and Me yet.

dude, i'm right there with you. seriously. if i had a $1,000 to spend or i found a duffel bag full of dirty drug money, OFCOURSE i would fly down to Cali JUST to see Devin, i've already seen BTBAM and Cynic, though i wouldn't mind seeing all of them all together. but Devin TOwnsend alone is a top priority bucketlist.

course all 3 of those bands would make me shit my pants.

YES!!! I just realised the West Hollywood date is when I'll be (relatively) close by for NAMM!!! This trip to the US just gets better and better. Covering NAMM for my site and maybe a few magazines as well, getting a guitar lesson from Paul Gilbert, and the chance of catching a Devin Townsend gig. HELL YES!

Dev, are you planning to make any appearances at NAMM? Maybe you can give me a lift to the gig, hehe.

30 minutes? We must demand more Dev! Surely alot of fans who show up to this concert are there to see the Dev if maybe even only to see the Dev.

I Purchased the Great Misdirect and it's the first time hearing BTBAM and must say i didn't like it at first but after a couple of listens I think it's a pretty good album but I still wouldn't go see them if Dev wasn't there.
