I should be able to.
I don't get back from Sydney until about 3PM, so by the time I get home, hose down, turn around and head back...it'll probably be closer to 6-ish, but being across the road from the Billy makes it a lot easier. :D

I just got confirmation I'll be photographing the gig as well. Woot! :D

Billboards always have two or three cameras directed at the stage at all times for the two display screens at the rear end of the venue.
I'm unsure though if it's recorded or just a live feed for the night. You could ask nicely and see if they do record and purchase a tape?

Does this only apply to video recording? To be honest, I'd be more interested in an audio recording taken from the mixing desk, like the old fashioned Fear Factory recording taken in Melbourne back in '99 - to my knowledge, the only complete live FF recording with reasonable sound. I wonder if there is a way we could do that - like an official bootleg sort of thing?

From what I've seen it's only video. If I were you I'd contact the manager at Billboards to see if there is any way of recording the audio side of the show. You could also ask Andrew Haug if he would be interested in recording it.

For all we know Dev may even record his entire set, but it's unsure if he will or not. That's something you may want to bring to his attention. It's not to late to organise something if he wishes to do so.

Dev's got a mobile ProTools rig and recorded all the US shows, the New York show will be released on the home made live album thing. So I'm hoping he'll record all the Oz shows as well, whether we get to hear them or not is a different story.
A two hour gig = Double Album!!
Plus a DVD copy of the visuals from the show!! (hint hint hint hint hint you reading this Dev?)

Hey whats up with the Devin acoustic thingy not being up on the Allans website? Maybe I'm blind but I cant find it anywhere.

This also might be of interest to you guys, but maybe not:

ME @ ALLANS IN MELBOURNE YESTERDAY (after trying out the new RGA7 ibanez)

Me: So whats up with the Devin Townsend thing? Is it free?
Worker: Yes
Me: (Face of intense joy)
Worker: But you needed to sign up online, it was restricted to 100 people
Me: (Face of intense terror)
So theres like no possible way that...
Worker: Well you could show up, its just that theres kind of limited space
Me: But theres a possibility?
Worker: Dont get your hopes up, but yeah there is a possibility you can.

WELL MY HOPES ARE UP! AND I WILL GET THERE AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE FOR EVEN JUST THE SLIGHTEST CHANCE!

But the pdf advirtisment states ENTRY STRICTLY BY PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY. I dunno.

the problem with it being free, is that there is no incentive to cancel a registered ticket, if you cant make it you just wouldnt go. I mean its entirely possible somebody in Adelaide was like "HOLY SHIT ITS FREE LEMME SIGN UP" and then think meh after considering airfares and crap. btw if I do get in, me and my sister (a student of audio engineering) will try and make an awesome recording for you bitches.

Got a friend in Brisbane who's in Melbourne for the weekend, and she's after a Devin ticket. Actually met her through the old old SYL mailing/discussion list back in 1998 or thereabouts... so yeah, it'd be good to be able to go to the gig with her for old times' sake. Anyway, if you or one of your mates has a spare ticket then get in touch. :P alohsmithATyahoo.com.au
