Don't get me wrong. There are some decent players with an ambition in life and normal football fans, I just dont like it when the public eat up people like Ben Cousin's and this tool who recently got charge for possession of cocaine and get all emotional and distort over some dickhead who can't control his on body, or mind for that matter.

I thought I was the only one in Melbourne who didn't like football.

By a weird coincidence, after I posted that yesterday, through my business I interviewed an AFL player: Luke Mcguane from Richmond. I know he's not the best known player in the league, but he's a stout defender for the Tiges, played every game last year and won the coaches award at Tigerland. Anyway, we got talking about the Stokes incident, and while he was pissed off at Stokes for being so stupid, he was even more pissed off that this kind of thing is the only thing the media portrays. The Tigers have a program (and I'm sure all clubs would have something similar) called 'Tigers in the Community', where every month players go out and spend time with underpriveledged kids, teaching them how to kick and handball, and with terminally ill kids in hospital. Of course the media only shows Matthew Stokes getting arrested for drug trafficking, Cousins in trouble and Carey being Carey. You rarely see the good alot of them do.
I know it doesn't make them Mother Theresa, but I'm sure it would give the kids a massive thrill to meet a Footy star. He reckons 95% of players in the AFL are good solid law abiding people, it's just a few bad apples. Changed my view on the whole thing...

Back on topic, I'm interviewing the Dev on Thursday!!!!

:D

You certainly did. :P

Who are you interviewing for?

We have someone organised to interview him as well. He'll be on the phone for like 6 hours doing interviews...he seems pretty keen!

@ Freak Kitchen,

It looks like the posters they have at Billboards. If you want a poster just ask the venue if they have any spare, or get in contact with the promotion company and grab one off them.

I hope you don't think I'm a dick for saying this, but what the hell?

You describe an entire group of people as "a bunch of semi illiterate, borderline rapists", then go on to say "supports" rather than supporters, "Cousin's" rather than Cousins, aids rather than AIDS, "there" rather than their, "charge" rather than charged, "distort" rather than distorted, and "on" rather than own. I hate spelling and grammar Nazis on the internet, but I can't see why you felt the need to attack the language skills of others when you're a little lacking yourself (aren't we all?). You could have at least cast a quick eye over your own post before labelling others as illiterate.

I agree that your average footballer is no saint (unless they play for St Kilda, boom boom) and that the adulation they receive should be proportionate to their deeds, but from that point on you lost me completely. Yes, a small percentage are idiots, and perhaps a large number are less-than-sharp off the field, but their efforts resulted in the AFL signing a $780 million (approx.), 5 year deal with broadcasters. Not socially worthy, sure. But they make big money for the corporations involved. The blokes that drag the punter through the turnstiles deserve a cut. Certainly at least as much as the executives who did the deal, who are on even fatter salaries and are just as likely to make a spelling mistake or be a "borderline rapist". They get an easier run than footballers, that's for sure.

If you hate footy, hate footy - I also happen to think that Government funds and social attention should be centred on social activities like care for the disabled, elderly and disadvantaged, health, education, business investment, financial growth and science. Fuck spending government money on sport. But that doesn't make footballers a bunch of retarded rapist bastards any more than your average dumb young white bloke.

It's a forum dude, people don't need to be perfectionists on these things, but I understand what you mean. I must admit I do speed type and don't always pick up the mistakes I've made. I did make a few mistakes at the time I posted the previous message and it was probably due to a number of reasons. I'm sure I don't really need to explain myself, but I feel I need to so I don't look like a complete fuckwit. :P

I just don't like football. Pure and simple. I guess I was venting anger and in the process it made me make some mistakes. As I said though, not all footballers and supporters are bad. I have a few friends who do enjoy the game and I understand the excitement they get from watching the game, much like what happens to me when I see a great live band or listen to an album which I really dig. Don't let my judgment cloud your decision to love the game. If you enjoy it, that's fine.

Lets stick to the topic at hand though.

Sorry Juz about the poster, papersounds was the seller and have used him before, if I see anything devy related I'll post it here or send you a pvt.

OK, what's going on guys?

When tickets were first released for the Sydney Enmore gig, I waited in line and got tix's # 72 and 73, maybe 10 minutes after they went onsale. Today, needed another ticket for a friend, and still was able to purchase "in front of stage" ticket, now number 666(cool number I know, but I doubt I'll be able to keep it after the gig). I was sure I wouldn't be able to get front tickets, yet alone only number 666, far from the 2200 capacity...

I think I need to shout some more friends for the gig to make up the numbers...

Interviewed Dev this morning. What an absolute gentleman, and very talkative of course! The perfect interviewee!

He gave a few hints as to the Aussie setlist. He said, while can't cover absolutely everything, he'll be playing all the big songs that people want to hear! Stuff like Earth Day, Life, Hyperdrive, Addicted, Christeen etc. HUGE!!!!!
