I actually don't mind that suggestion at all. Maybe a little 'glam' for Devin, but I love their new album, it's killer. Wouldn't mind seeing that one bit....

If Voyager support I know for a fact one of the guitarists will wet their pants.

That's true, but isn't this band Voyager well known on Australia? the support band should feel comfortable with the audience, specially with the impatient dtp fans :D

There are far better Australian bands that are better known than Voyager and which would also fit in quite well with a DTP show (Alchemist and Karnivool are just a couple that spring to mind). Voyager is some pretty second-rate, run-of-the-mill power metal that I would be very, very happy not to have to endure before seeing Devin Townsend (as I would probably have ripped out my own eardrums 10 seconds into Voyager's first song, making it quite difficult to fully appreciate my first Devin Townsend solo show).

Just my opinion, of course! :)

If the BTBAM tour gets a sticky, maybe this should be sticky too.

Voyager aren't power metal though. They're progressive metal. :P

Ah well, I'm sure everyone has their own interpretation of what kind of genre they are. They're a pretty flexible band though, so it would be well suited for a DTB show.

I think Karnivool would be nice, yet I must admit they sound alittle cliche to me. They're good, but after about 2 songs they sound the same.

Same other support bands in mind...
Sydonia
Cog
Be'lakor
Rincon
Tinman
Mammal
The Butterfly Effect
Ne Obliviscaris
Black Orchid

There is heaps to choose from. 8)
