Now i can't stop thinking about this...

How about another collaboration with Steve Vai? Although Dev would DEFINITELY have to have the creative control this time, at least over the lyrics.....

Sikth? Man that would be, well.....sick. He could whip Trent Reznor back into shape too. Static-X? Hell yes! I don't really like them as a standalone, but with Dev it would totally work.

Tears for Fears, Steve Austin, fuck......why hasn't anyone though of Cheap Trick? Dev sounds so much like Robin Zander it hurts.

Sebastian Bach, CYNIC? (damn....), The Cure, Enigma, Zappa, hell.....even Aqua would be cool. Dev doing Bobby's World? HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'll stop for now.........wait....Sasha and Digweed......

Tool or just Maynard.
Nevermore.
Portugal, The Man

I would love to see the outcome of Devy working with a Hip-Hop artist, hahaha. :D

If no one mentioned it yet, I'd love to see a Devin Townsend/Les Claypool collab.

I just love both of them, and I think their styles/attitudes would mesh well.

And I resurrected a year old thread.

I think I recall Devin saying he isn't fond of slap bass and similar fancy techniques on here somewhere... I could be wrong. That would be interesting though, for sure. :P

I would love to hear another album from the VAI line-up, but this time using everyone to their fullest potential and writing/recording as a band (then getting as out-there as they like with the overdubs). Sex & Religion was a very important album for me but those four guys could have done something extraordinary in another time and place.

Hm... that sounds a little closed-minded for dev. I mean, I don't know the dude personally, but for someone that makes such experimental sounding albums, I'd imagine he would welcome different styles.

Slap bass doesn't have to be "fancy." I learned it in a beginners' lesson. Maybe you mean Claypool's techniques, specifically. Cuz Claypool does go nuts, but if you listen to most of his non show-offy stuff, it's really fitting to Devin's style.

Be all that as it may, this is "dream collaboration," so... that's my dream. Devin, Claypool, and Brain.

Well... that TM fool from Sex & Religion certainly slapped *secret cringe*
I'm not big on slapping so I personally really wouldn't want to see Devin use some slap  But to each their own.

The Oid wrote:Tori Amos could be a pretty cool/interesting collaboration. Something a bit different from a collaboration with another artist in the metal genre.

Being a fan of Tori, I was really surprised to see someone come up with this idea. It could be really interesting indeed. I'm also a fan of the Steven Wilson - Devin project idea. Too bad Wilson has like a million projects going on all the time already...

There are a lot of great musicians who I'd love to see work with Devin, but in the end, I think Devin has been able to pick a great line-up for the albums himself every time. Having some bigger names to work with him would still be really cool though. Maybe we'll see it happen some day.

Devin - Vocals, guitar, bass (and possibly synth)
Chris Reifert - Drums, vocals

I think they could make some sick, twisted, weird, brutal and funny stuff.

Pjat Lain, hands down. That'd be really interesting. Maybe a mix of "Day 5" and "Blagh Bastala"? Indee-d.

If not, I'd say some kind of supergroup with him on axe and vocals, Omar Alfredo Rodríguez-López on axe, Jeordie White on bass, Derek Roddy on skins, Jon Lord on keys, and someone suitably batshish-crazy to backing vocals like Björk...or me.

Not exactly a collaboration, but. I've wondered what it would be like if Dev was a producer for an album by my favourite band, InMe.

They're not that well known, ages ago when they were young they had a little help with magazines and stuff but now theyve grown up and more independant but sadly get no recognition nowadays even though theyre making better and better albums with each release. I would love it if their next album, Herald Moth, would get them recognition they deserve and maybe in the possiblity of getting some dosh that they could afford to get Dev producing the next album. I would love to see what that would be like. I'm sure the lead singer, Dave would get a long with Dev. Heck they even have the same first letter of their first name. Judging from Dev's display picture, he's a fan of Dark Crystal? Dave's favourite movie. I bet they don't even know each other, yet I bet if they did, something magical could happen.

Also I didnt know I was writing more than 1 sentence, I was in the mood to write.
