Ah, Dev - how we truly don't deserve you !

It's a funny thing how you kinda sound like you're in an apologetic mood when describing some of the building done by some of the songs and the album as a whole. Kinda like you know people want stuff "Now, now, now !" but that this doesn't play by their rules.

You know what ? I think that's great.

You make an album and in order to get across the music and the feeling of it all you need to do what you need to do. Who cares if the single is the odd guy out on this - I know I couldn't give a flying fandango. The album is the thing. The whole damn buttery journey.

Albums that reveal all in the few few bars of each track can be great fun but have a look though some of my favourite albums, the ones you'd grab first in a fire etc, and it's the ones that don't give it all up on the first date. Opeth, Porcupine Tree, The Gathering - even unlikely stuff like The Young Gods. It gives as it wants to - you don't ask of it.

Not everybody want's a Hollywood wham-bam and it's sweet as anything that you type out a long post telling us that things mature out over the whole platter and almost treat it as a warning to us to stick with it. I think you'll be surprised and, I hope, quietly touched that we're very likely to be there following that flow and loving every minute of the payoff as each building finally crashes through.

I have no idea if this makes any sense to you (or any of the others with great taste reading this) but it's how I feel (and have felt) about your solo stuff for a stupid amount of time. Just kinda looks a little lame typed on a forum post no matter how well meant.

Ah, screw it. Wait until the CD ships then watch the emotion on here. We all "get" the human condition as much as we like it in the pit from time to time.

Angst is great but revelation lives with you...........

I honostly think this new era is very symbolic of Devin quitting a specific habit that he was into for a long period of time. I think thats what the new era will be about, and his music may change, or it may stay as "traditional Devin" as humanly possible.

I think orchestrated Devin sounds interesting, but I dont know if i would particularly like that. And the DTB is way too new of a thing to just stop, this is pretty much their first big album. Not downing AE, but it wasnt really an epic album like most of the others.

If Devin stopped singing, i would be dissapointed, but its his life, and i totally value the new direction in which he wishes to pursue. I dont want anyone controlling my life, and he sure as hell doesnt want anyone controlling his.

This album sounds great, i cant wait for it. Devin seems apologetic about it (as was said before), and I really dont think you have to be. Music is an art, as you express emotions and feelings through the music, their is no boundaries. If it is not commercially safe, who cares, as long as it is what you intended it to sound like. And I would hope that Devin is as happy with this album as humanly possible.

Wow...all this is just so much to swallow when thinking about it. Whatever Devin decides to do as far as where to take his abilities next, I will be there, being as staunch a supporter as I can be.

I am too very passionate about shit. When you give birth to a brown baby boy, much love is needed.

Just thought i'd lower the tone for a second, someone else feel free to raise it again.

The Dev wrote:Promos of the record are gonna start showing up, and therfore leaks will probably start as well. Please don't download it, but if you do hear it...you might as well know the story.

That was almost 2 weeks ago, it's not really leaking yet. Good, less days of resisting and biting my tongue.

(I admit I've been searching for leaks, but I'm not gonna download when I find any!!!)

Looks like the leak has really started leaking, that sucks. Boycott the leak!! Listening to a new devin cd is like one of those cherished moments like when you get an awesome new christmas present, now it's being treated like an old porno on the side of the road. That sucks, don't do it devy heads! ah do what you want but i think it would so much cooler for a person if they waited.

i have downloaded a heap of stuff in the past, including alien. all that did was get me back in to syl in a big way and introduced me to the solo work. i usually go out and purchase whatever it was i downloading anyway, if i like it (like alien obv obv)

if it wasn't for the fact that dev actually asked us not to download this then i probably would have by now, simply because i'm looking forward to it that much. but he asked and it's not like i don't trust him enough to have to listen to it before i buy it. so here i wait patiently
