I recently read a note from Devin on this forum that said he's recording a solo album called "Human", which will be the polar opposite of "Alien". What gives? Is he still doing "Human"? DTB is the same as Devin. it is just a new fancy name for his solo music.

Human is now entitled Synchestra.

DTB is what he called the "band" on his last album. When he says DTB, it stands for Devin Townsend Band, which I believe means he's doing the same thing that he did with that last one. I sure hope not.

But what's wrong with Devin playing with the "devin townsend band"? you think playing with a band brings him down or something?

all the records have a band that plays the music Dev writes ..... this makes it simpler to keep track of the releases I think.

Sort of. Infinity was effectively a two man band, with the exception of a few guests for individual tracks (bad devil namely)

It's still the same Devin Townsend composing the music here, rather it's Infinity or Accelerated Evolution, it's still Devy, so I really wouldn't worry about it. Same with the name, what's in a name? It's the contents that mean anything to me.

It's been 3 years and a few crazy experiences , and in getting to know each other the 'dtb' has been able to become a really immediate representation of where my solo type material is at.

Synchestra is a different animal, it's really something else.

Oh, and like Devlab kind of went with Alien...(ahem...)

THE HUMMER (thank you... thank you...) ...goes with Synchestra.

The Hummer is another neato-keen electronic record that again, will only be released on the website. and again, there will people (like Devlab) who will think it's a waste of time and money. So DON'T BUY IT, unless you're into experimental stuff. Here's the deal;

After Alien, I started to make a record of low frequencies and serene sounds designed to vibrate the room at certain frequencies and ultimately...PUT YOU TO SLEEP. That's the idea...you put it on when you go to bed. I tried to keep everything 'consonant', with as few fequencies reacting weirdly to each other as possible. so nice! It's about 40 minutes long and has a multitude of different moods and tones. 1 song, just put it on.

So there you go...if that floats your boat, there'll be 1000 of them around the same time as Synchestra.

I'm totally in to that... I love stuff that alters the mind and let's you experience new things. I've always found that your music alters my state of mind... so hearing the DEV saying he's making a record designed to put you to sleep is EXCITING... to me at least.

Wonderful, now I'm even more excited. I need to calm down, my stumach is jumpin upp and down.

Dev! This is totally awesome news, I am glad that you are deciding to release another type of electronic record, and this one sounds so neat too. I know I will be one of the purchasers, so thank you very much for the news.

sweet, that sounds awesome. I love shit that puts you to sleep and messes with your brain. Is there going to be anything like track 13 on Devlab? That part makes me so relaxed and sleepy, i love it.
