I have been watching Steve Vai since his Alcatrazz days. (I never noticed him in the Zappa days)

He is such a great player and the guy has come soooo far in his career.

And now the news about the track that Devy has allowed Steve to contribute to Devy's new disk? This is certainly an honor and another mile-stone in his Steve's great career.

Personally, I'd be OK if Devy let Steve be the full-time rythm guitarist in "DTB". Devy could focus more writing, singing and production and let Steve handle some of the palying. Devy could even sometimes let Steve have a solo or two.

On second thought,...I don't think Steve would be quite THAT lucky.

But again,...I'm so very happy for Steve Vai. Just when you think he can't go any further,....He somehow seems to keep doing even better for himself!

Bravo Steve!

CT

Hahaha, yeah, and Dev would charge him only 100$ for a day of playing in DTB. :D

At the risk of sounding like a whiny bitch... But, how come we have to go to Blabbermouth to hear that Vai is gonna be on the records? This is just a question. I'm just curious. Dev doesn't owe me shit. He makes good music and I buy it. But, I come to this forum to hear the latest (and, of course, talk with fellow lovers of the Hevy Devness) news, especially right now as the new album is being recorded. So, I'm only saying, why wasn't an announcement made here first, or even concurrently? Heck, I'd have been happy if it had been made at all. As it was, we had to get it from somebody else that happened to run across it.

Anyway, please don't take this the wrong way. I'm more wondering just "why" this went this way, rather than complaining. I don't think it was "wrong" or should have been done another way. I only wonder why.

I seem to remember answering this question before....

The answer is simple: this is a forum run by fans for fans. Devin and the other HevyDevy/DTB guys and gals have no contract with us here. Any information they give us directly is a gift of sorts. The fact that you read this information somewhere else first is not really relevant. Somebody here has given a link to this information, so that is available to everybody, and that is the way this forum works. We collect, distribute and discuss information ourselves. It is nobodies 'job' to do this.

However, if you wish to put effort into doing these things then it is always more than welcome.

I may even give you a mango.

Oh, no, see, I totally get that and that wasn't really what I was asking. What I mean is, given that Beavis and Drumdude do post here on a semi-regular basis and that the Dev does make announcements (as evinced by the stickies) why didn't they announce anything here before we read it somewhere else. That's "why" as in, "Why not?" not as in, "Why the fuck don't they give me what I want?" I'm not complaining, I'm wondering. I'm curious why not tell us. I'm suspecting just because, well, Dev was too busy recording and getting ready to go on tour and stuff and he was interviewed so he said it there.

But, dude, monga, I totally get that they don't have to post anything. As I said, I just buy the music, Dev, or any other DTB or SYL member doesn't owe me shit. I paid for the album, not their time. :D See, I just knew it was gonna sound bitchy. Oh well. Not meant that way.

Oh, and no, I won't be looking and gathering information 'cause I'm far too busy and not nearly clever enough to know where to look. Isn't that why I paid for a membership to this website.

You all paid Geoff didn't you? Guys? <crickets> GUYS?!

That's ok Gurp13, I understand your question.

I think maybe that because Devin & Co are very busy, that they will wait until the time is right to make an announcement. So in that respect an announcement may only be made when necessary.

Or something.

Ack, I dunno!

Heh.

It was supposed to be a secret, so guys actively withheld this information. That's why.

Vai.

Townsend.

Maybe they should do a project called Vaisend.

Or maybe not. In fact why am I posting this crap idea anyways??
