It's like a celebration — something you put on in the morning, or when you want to sing along and laugh and smile, but still have it so heavy that when you crank it up, it will level any of your death-metal competition."

So it's like Infinity. It's a strange type of heavy-happy music too.

You know, I've been tryng to follow things around here pretty closely. I drop in at least once a week. Is this the first time we actually heard that Vai is on the album? How can we have Ryan and Dave both posting here but not know this? And, does this then mean that Dev will be guesting on Vai's next album? Both have said they would do something like this. I'm a big fan of Vai so I'm very excited to hear about this.

Also, I've learned not to put too much stock in whatever Dev says. His mind seems to change as often as my wife's does. Which is a lot. :-)

Man,...when I hear the word "epic" describing this new CD,.....Hell yeah!,...I feel that "epic" is what Devy does best. To me Devy is all about lush, sprawling chord progressions.

To this day "Death Of Music" is still my favorite Devy tune.

I want it played at my funeral. (hopefully a long time from now!)

You nailed it bro !

None of us in the DTB were'nt going to say shit until this rumour became reality. Dev was the only guy who should mention this news first. Steve and Dev have a long history with eachother so it only made sense for Dev to spill the news about Vai playing on "Synchestra". So he has now mentioned it and we can talk about it !

Vai has had the song he's playing a lead on for a couple weeks now at least. I think Dev has or is getting the solo back any day now.

As far as Vai playing on "Synchestra" in my eyes.....

I'm beyond stoked !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is easily one of the best guitar players in the world. He is sick ! I would have never imagined when I was a teenager listening to David Lee Roth's "Eat 'Em and Smile" that Steve Vai one day would play to my drum tracks on an album ! It's very surreal but very cool at the same time. I'm personally honoured and very stoked about Vai playing on the new DTB record and I can't wait to hear it all come together....that'll be soon !

If that was a reply to me, I meant the other way round...I'm sure that Devin posted something about a year ago saying that they were planning on both contributing to each other's next albums....just wondered if I imagined it, lol

Aaah, you don't suffer from overactive imagination - at least not concerning this quote from the Dev

Btw, when Dev talked about it, he was speaking of both their next albums. Well, Vai already relaesed this "next" album (Real Illusions, right?) - and as we all know, there's no Dev on it... Wondering if Dev's guest appearance on a Vai record will still happen.
