So anyway: Nice to hear about eventuallly RECEIVING THE HUMMER (you know it had to be said )

I think Human works as a better DTB title than Synchestra, because it prepares a proper balance to calling the SYL "Alien". In fact, I thought that was the intention all along.

Didn't devin say though that this album is totally seperate from Alien? Maybe thats why he changed it.

Now I'm looking forward to two albums?! Awesome! You know, I had resisted buying Devlab because of all the disclaimers about it not being for everyone and all. But, now I'm thinking I need to pick it up after all and give it a listen. I have listened to a lot of industrial music and other electronic stuff that was pretty noisy, so I probably can handle it. I just don't know if I will like it as much as I like, say, Terria or AE or Ocean Machine or Infinity. So, yeah, when I get some money, I gotta get Devlab. Then, later, Synchestra and The Hummer. Man, that sounds cool. A nice album to just chill out to. I can't wait to throw it on my iPod with my E2c's and just let it flow over me. Nice. :-)

excellent earphones.

I like them. I wish I had less sense and more money so I could buy the E5c's though. :-) They have two little drivers in there, a separate one for bass! Nice.

After reading Devin's post while sober, I'm wondering if it's going to be something along the lines of something that Sunn O))) would do, but more with electronics? I wonder, because he said it's something to put you to sleep, so it's probably a lot slower and lower pitched. Only time will tell, but this could be good.

that companion album Hummer sounds awesome. have you been reading up on your music therapy, Devin?....cause in theory it makes a lot of sense and I want it, NOW!

but I will wait patiently for the next thing...whatever. you haven't done anything bad yet...sure some releases took some getting used to, but hey what good is a musician if he does not challenge the listener, right?

After Alien, I started to make a record of low frequencies and serene sounds designed to vibrate the room at certain frequencies and ultimately...PUT YOU TO SLEEP. That's the idea...you put it on when you go to bed. I tried to keep everything 'consonant', with as few fequencies reacting weirdly to each other as possible. so nice! It's about 40 minutes long and has a multitude of different moods and tones. 1 song, just put it on.

So there you go...if that floats your boat, there'll be 1000 of them around the same time as Synchestra.

That's probably the coolest thing I've heard of in a looooong time! Sign my big ass up!

Umm...what would be a good setup for this Hummer album/song?
I have a dual 12" subwoofer system and approx. 100 watts RMS each speaker in my home theater...do you think that might be capable of the output you had in mind for the full effect?
Also...would a good set of headphones do the job as well? I'm willing to get some good earphones just for the Hummer.

Thanks Dev!

I cant wait for this album to come out... Its strange. I am more of a brutal death metal fan. Stuff like iniquity, dying fetus, decapitated, behemoth, malignancy etc. But when i first heard devin townsend's terria a couple years ago, something stuck with me...Every fuckin album this guy has done is genius. And meeting him back when they came to ottawa in april was a fuckin awesome experience.
