I bought an acoustic bass today, a swish little thing.
Shine, Red quilted burst.
It was in standered GDAE tuning so I thought "fack it, why not" and tuned it to GCGC, same as Dev, and I can tell you now I can see why he uses it.
It's a fecking awesome tuning and I can actually write my own stuff on it!! =D
I'd seriosly suggest trying it out to all you bassists and guitarists out there, particularly ones that site Devin and his ilk as one of their main influences.

Two of my guitars are in CbGbCbGbCbEb, wonderful tuning for blues.

I suspect that's common tuning here.

Yeah, I always tune half a step down for some reason, I think I have OCD or something

Bah its an easy mistake. Matter of fact its a good way to mess with people who dont know any theory, tell them you tune to Cb or E# and see how long it takes them to try and find those notes

Yeah, I use that tuning (Open B, right?) from time to time as well. I mostly go between it and open E (my main tuning).

Yup, I've got two in open Cb (

), a seven-string in standard and one in DADGAD at the moment. Open tuning are just so full of win

I wonder if (when I got the monies) I should buy an acoustic bass guitar and try it out. Can't be that expensive!
edit: Oh and yeah, open tunings are awesome! I love CGCGCE but I keep it in CGCFAD so I can play songs that are in Drop D/E Standard
