I know that Devin is using it on his Ziltoid album, and that Meshuggah used it on Catch 33, but what exactly is it? I downloaded Drumkit From Hell 2 and it is a Native Instrument VST program, but there is nowhere I can sequence beats like in FL Studio like I use.

This is one confusing program. Anyone care to shed some light on the matter?

to be really honest, I have the same question, I've been lookin' into buying a new drum program, since FruityLoops doesn't cut it for me any longer..... I know it's supposed to work as a plugin for another program somehow, but I'm not sure which ones and how to do it myself

Fruity Loops drum sounds = lame after about 2 minutes.

i use drumkit from hell with fruityloops studio...

did a couple ocean machine copycat covers that way:

http://www.talkingmeat.com/travtemp/tra ... e_mix1.mp3
http://files.radioitg.com/trav/trav_sev ... 005_eq.mp3

(forgive the vocals)

basically i ended up with about 60-70 tracks each loaded with a different sample... like 4 or 5 velocities of each hit, left and right, and just made sure not to make two hits next ot each other the exact same sample

it took FOR EVER of course but if you wanna use fruityloops you can. is the point.

:(

Basically you add a MIDI track and assign DFH to the output of that MIDI track. Then you draw the MIDI notes as you want the drums to go. You hear the drums as you program them, or when you press a note.

It's very simple and straightforward.

1. Those are pretty awesome covers.
2. what program did you use for recording vocals?
3. I don't know how drumkit from hell works, sorry to derail topic:)

Wait, do you program the notes in a loop program using DFH? Or do you do it inside the program itself?

Isn't DFH a plug-in? Like, a sound bank?

I have Drum Kit from Hell 2, and I just use it as a plugin in Fruity loops. It barely works that way. My computer can't handle the massive amounts of ram needed to run both drum kit from hell and fruity loops so it ends up skipping hits and cracking :(

Is there some easier more efficient way to use it that I just don't know about?

I am getting a new computer soon with 2 gigs of RAM (I'm using 512 mb right now), maybe that will fix it.

How about you buy the software and read the manual?

I hate double standards like this, none of you would like it if someone posted about downloading a Devin album. DFH is not free, people worked hard to make it happen. at least honour their work and give them the cash..

I don't believe anyone mentioned anything about pirated DFH.

But aren't there different versions of DFH, that can be used in different ways?

I load the DFH samples onto Battery, and then operate that through the keyboard on Nuendo (basically the same thing as Cubase and made by Steinberg, just a little bit more reliable.... still can be awkward, like audio running out of sync when recording :x )..... That's another way to use it.

I did buy it. It didn't come with a very good instruction manual at all.

drumkit from hell 1 I belive was just wav samples & I personally run them through orion platinum which is a drumkit sequencer program. The new one though, the drumkit2 is still a work in progress for me. I believe you can still use it with a sequencing program but I know you can use a midi keyboard & program it inside the actual program too this time around.
