i love the sound of a clean strat single coil neck pickup, but i also love the sound of a distorted humbucker. if i need to, ill take the humbucker over the single coil, but i was wondering if there is any way i could coax that clean strat single coil neck pickup tone out of a guitar with humbuckers.

and is there much difference between the two sounds of a guitar with a coil tap? ive tried out a couple, and i dont hear much difference.

so if i got a guitar with a neck humbucker and a bridge humbucker, in which space would i put this? or do i put one in both?

and what are those numbers at the bottom? the treble: 8.5, mid: 4.5, bass: 4.5 stuff.

Well, you could put one in each space... This is more of a neck pickup though, at least for the sound you seem to want. The numbers at the bottom are just specs, pretty much. The guitar I've been working on for far too long now is going to have one of these in the neck position and an X2N in the bridge position. Nice contrast.

ive noticied that most guitars have the pickup switch below the strings. in the songs i have written, for my ideal tones, i need to switch between the two for the distorted and clean parts. is anything i can do to make it easier to switch between the pickups, or do i just have to have a really fast hand?

You can get a foot switch for your amp to easily switch channels, if your amp has seperate channels for clean/overdrive.

Yeah, there's not much you can do about that. Gotta have quick hands. I used to have the same problem in certain songs. My guitar didin't have a 5 way selector switch though, so each pickup had it's own on-off switch, so i had to flick one off, then one on, while pressing the foot pedal to change channels on my amp all in one quick motion, and sometimes I had to press a stomp box too. It was quite the task, heh. You gotta practice to make the change as smooth as possible.
