I'm looking for guitarsound that Devin Townsend had on Terria (the song and the album as well. Any ideas? What are the basic features of Dev's sound?
I have V-Amp 2.

To achieve a Terria style guitar sound...a moderate gain amp, gain around only 5 or 6, too much gain will give you undesired saturation & a non terria style sound. Second, delay, delay & more delay. Vast amounts of it, I'd say all at around maybe 800 milliseconds with very long feedback/decay. I mean long! The delay does not have to be super high in the mix, merely acting to add lushness to your sound. Third, compression, a good amount of compression to tighten the broadness of your sound. I mean with that much delay you want to make sure the notes still hold their attack. Fourth, & very important to achieve a sound more exact to terria, use either a single coiled strat style bridge pickup or a bridge humbucker split so the top of the humbucker only is played. Also, as a complenting element, the morley bad horsie is a good start.

I wondered about the same thing.

I believe on this album and Accelerated Evolution, Dev used Fender Strats with Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates humbuckers in the bridge, not the single coils.

But everything else in your description was pretty dead on.

Um No...Never question the master...Devin used single coil fender strats on Terria while oppting for the humbucking pearly gates on Accelerated Evolution.
