Here's something no one ever talks about. What kind of acoustic guitar does Devin play?

yeah, it's not the best acoustic guitar there is, but hell, it sounds ok.

Yeah... If only he could afford a Gibson... They are the best, as far as I have heard. Maybe there is some weird custom made thing somewhere that is better.

I almost put a Taylor 310ce on layway. That is a fine, fine workhorse guitar. I tuned it all the way down to A and it didn't lose anything in the ways of tone or intonation.

A friend of mine bought a Gibson J200. Jesus H. Christ, I'm telling you, this guitar has the best acoustic sound ever. And I've played dozens of acoustic guitars. The J200 sounds better than any Martin of Taylor around, I kid you not.
Only problem is, they cost 3200 euros.... ouch

Yeah, I really like the J100 Xtra... same design, but without the frills.... It sounds just a little different. I used one on "Sparrow" back in the day.

I cant remember what it is called ( I think it is a segovia) He kidnapped it from me some time ago, it is a pretty crappy acoustic I paid 100 bucks for it at a pawn shop. It has been played on Accelerated Evolution and I am pretty sure he played it on Terria.

So the Takamine on the new devintownsend.com title screen is a recent acquisition?

I dont even know if that is actually his guitar. Could be borrowed or maybe he got a new acoustic and I havent seen it.

He played a Takamine on the official bootleg video, so maybe he has a couple of them.

Well our thoughts have been answered regarding the Gibson acoustics: in Ryan's photos that he has uploaded in the Devin Townsend band tour journal, the first photos has Dev strumming a Gibson Dove. Yay!!!

And onto other things than acoustics, you can see in one shot that he is still using his Peavey 5150... cool!

He's also borrowed my acoustic for some recordings, it's a local luthier called Northwood guitars. I wouldn't be suprised if I got a call for it again. Northwoods are super nice guitars, I had him make me 2 basses and they rock.

Beav gave me a call and it looks like my Northwood acoustic will be used for Synchestra. Check em out, one guy runs the whole operation , he makes each guitar start to finsih. He's made me 2 basses and an acoustic, all fine instruments.
