I got a ESP Horizon, a Fender American Deluxe Strat (modified), a Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci and a Gibson Es-135. I've had more over the years, but after playing for about 25 years now, i reckon I can do just about everything with these guys.

And I play all this through a Vox Tonelab or POD XT LIve via a Tech21 Power Engine. Nope, it's not as good as my old tube gear (Mesa Boogie Dual Rec, Bogner SHiva, H&K Tri-Axis)....but its maintenance free, bullet proof, lighter, and quicker to set up, and gets me most of the way there. Most people wouldn't notice the difference anyway...its just us stupid and obsessive guitarists lol.

Oh, and I use a TC electronics G Major at home for recording, along with some nice boutique pedals I've had for years.

Given the choice, I'd say Fender. I like my Mexican Tele, although I'm more interested in guitars as tools than as objects in themselves.

I tried out the Vox Tonelab the other day, I really liked the tones you can tweak out of that one. Very well worth the price.

Yeah, it's a keeper. Modellers just keep getting better and better. The rather tinny high end on the tonelab can be cured by replacing the tube in it as well......I changed mine for a GE tube and it sounds much better.

It's doesn't have as many bells and whistles as the POD....so I don;t use it when I want lots of effects that have been deeply edited.....nor for very high gain tones....but it's got a better warmer clean tone and bluesy crunch tones.

GE tube huh? Cool... Even though I was able to crank infinite better crunch and distortion out of it compared to my old crap V-amp (first edition!).

Oh, and to stay on topic...I use Ibanez guitars. :)

Good for you!

They represent excellent value for money in Australia as well. Students of mine who are getting into jazz often want recommendations for a decent jazz box....

....ans isntead of suggesting a Gisob, Epiphone, Ibanez or Yamaha archtop, I always suggest the intro level Corts.....they make astounding jazz boxes for not much money at all.

Ibanez have fast necks... thats all I've found in their forte. ESP have good tone but are like Nike and overpriced. Jacksons play great but seem to lack some edge... can't put my finger on it. BC Rich look horrendous but suit the metal grandeur, Fernandes are missing something or maybe just have weirdly shapes in minor details like a good looking woman from afar that has some imperfection that you can't figure out but you wont go home with her, Musicman lacks an edge cosmetically but sound sick.... soooo....

Schecter.

Awesome sound and look effing great, and awesome sound... again... awesome sound.

I've got an 8 string Halo custom being built and will review it... hopefully a good one!

And I had a few drinks so I'll share this...

mod an Ibanez or keep hte neck and FR get a maple body, throw EMGs and make the 9vs to 18vs. SICK tone. If only they listened to the people... (lefty rage)

I recently bought a Tom Anderson Pro Am 7-string.
It's unbelievable. I already knew Tom Anderson made guitars with the utmost care and love, but these guitars sound so friggin' awesome. They are extremely well built, and produce a tone which will make your jaw drop on the floor.
Maybe the best guitar around for playing metal, in my humble opinion.

ESP! I've only had LTDs, due to that whole "money" thing, but the necks are amazing.

I've fallen in love with Ibanez guitars. I've played one for a little over a year now, and I really just enjoy the feel.

Guitars - Ibanezes... has been my standard for years, the necks just feel 'right' to me.
Bass - Conklins
