Hey olive, nice set up. Just noticed that you have the mapex black panther as your spare, I would have thought it'd be nicer than a chad smith signature. I was thinking of buying a black panther if I get some spare cash, don't you like it or do you just prefer the sound of the pearl snare? (which is a steel shell, right?)

Well... They sound a lot different. You're right, Pearl snare is a steel shell, while Black Panther is a maple shell. At the moment the Chad Smith fits better with the kind of music I play with my band. Black Panther is warmer and in my actual situation I prefer something more incisive and explosive.
I like the Black Panther a lot. It's a great wood snare, with a very nice look and a beautiful sound. It's also very versatile: you can try to use it with a lot of different heads and tunings!
