Can you use orion platinum to full on make songs, or just for sequencing drums? I think maybe I should start a separate topic for just introduction to digital music making in general..

Within the host program (Cubase, Sonar, Reaper, etc).

But aren't there different versions of DFH, that can be used in different ways?

Only the original Drumkit from Hell differs from the other releases. The original (also comes in "Multi Format" flavour with pre-made kit presets for various samplers like GigaStudio, Battery, Halion, etc) is simply a big CD full of single .wav files that you can use.

All other DFH versions (and EzDrummer) are proprietary sampler programs that you can trigger through MIDI, and you can load the sampler program into any DAW that supports VST instruments.

I hate double standards like this, none of you would like it if someone posted about downloading a Devin album. DFH is not free, people worked hard to make it happen. at least honour their work and give them the cash..

I did buy it. It didn't come with a very good instruction manual at all.

sorry if you did. But I have DFHS and it came with detailed instructions on how to set it up with every possible sequencer under the sun. if you still need help, then check the instructions on the toontrack website and the restricted area. you can also find drum maps there than will make your life easier

hey i appreciate it :p

vocals recorded with a nady microphone i got for $10 at a pawn shop. sat at my computer desk and hit the record button in Soundforge (which is what i mix in). nothing especially complicated

I've just bought it online and I'm waiting for it to arrive. I'm getting a Digidesign MBox 2 Pro Factory whenever it arrives (it's been paid for and on order for 2 months now) and finally I'll be able to wave goodbye to Garageband!!!

did a couple ocean machine copycat covers that way:

http://www.talkingmeat.com/travtemp/tra ... e_mix1.mp3
http://files.radioitg.com/trav/trav_sev ... 005_eq.mp3

(forgive the vocals)

basically i ended up with about 60-70 tracks each loaded with a different sample... like 4 or 5 velocities of each hit, left and right, and just made sure not to make two hits next ot each other the exact same sample

it took FOR EVER of course but if you wanna use fruityloops you can. is the point.

:(

Dude your cover kicks ass. Now dont take this the wrong way, but during one part of the vocals, I was like "... oh my God! DREW"!!

Haha, not that you're a bad singer. Just one on of the high notes, it reminded me of the FTATR DVD.

i have dfh 2 and so far i've been using it fruityloops with no real problems. i just load it up as the vst plugin, use the direct from disc feature and draw everything in in the piano roll. if i do get dropouts i'll just take the snare (for example) and solo it and export it as a wav and load it in and then just erase that part in the piano roll.
next time i'm on my own computer i'll get some songs and post them up, not having internet at home kinda sucks like that sometimes.
yeah.

I finally got my Mbox - and it arrived broken! So after a further 3 week wait, they replaced it. Now I have one that works, but I can't seem to find DFH2 within Pro Tools. I don't know if I've done something wrong or what. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Does anybody know of a tutorial or anything like that which deals with using DFH2 with Pro Tools? Toontrack's product support is pretty much useless.

It says pretty clearly in the DFH manual how to set it up with pro tools

 Manual? What's that? *lol*

I tried that already (I'm really a 'manual' kinda guy) and it didn't seem to help, which is why I thought I'd ask here.

On further investigation Kompakt doesn't work with Intel macs so I need to upgrade to DFH Superior. Would have been nice if this information was easy to find.

I can use it as a standalone program but that doesn't really help when I want to use it within a Pro Tools session.

Lucky I like buyin' stuff.
