Im currently twanging an ESP KH-2 Neck-Thru (tuned EADGBE and DADGBE with Ernie Ball .10-.46) and a Squier Fat Strat which is strung with Ernie Ball .12s and is used for anything C# and lower (although occasionally I tune it to D, although I prefer not to with those beefy strings).

This goes directly to a Vox Wah pedal and from that it does to a nice new Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier head and then into a Marshall 25/50 Silver Jubilee 2x12 cab.

How many 16yr olds have that sorta shit :)

Jesus Christ, everyone really has a lot of money on this message board....

I've been playing for 14 years, so accumulation and well...its not just a hobby for me. Not in that I make money doing it, because I don't...but its like a form of therapy... or like smoking...

It makes me feel better when I play and I enjoy it. So...if life is about finding general happiness...I found it in playing guitar :)

Put me in a room with nothing but a guitar and I'd probably entertain myself all day long...

Erm, I've been collecting feverishly since I began playing eight years ago... I have more gear than I listed but I thought I would keep it to what was my essential live rig. I use Logic Audio as my primary platform for recording and I use the Digitech pre to do demoing. I always mic amps when I do recordings for proper release. I collect guitars and pedals so I can get different sounds on recordings, so I have a fair few cheapy guitars just for different sounds and also a bunch more pedals (I particularly collect fuzz pedals, I love the sound...)

Thankfully I was able to get most of my stuff fairly cheaply, like I got my Ibanez seven string for two hundred and twenty five US while I was in the states, and I got given my Vase all valve '60s amp head and Celestion loaded box... That was a joy of working at this music store :D

Ok, I see.
Music IS my main income, and I'm even studying at the Conservatory (popular music) on becoming a professional musician.
But I just don't have the money for buying all the stuff you guys have. My Powerball costst 1800 euro's, which is VERY expensive for my income. I know guitars are way cheaper in the US, but I'm not sure what the prices are in the rest of the world.
And I'm guessing you guys all have full-time jobs.

Dude, how the fuck did you afford Protools? Even LE? Kickass avatar, by the way.

About EMG's, If you're looking for sheer output, 81's are the way to go. My Dean has two 81's, and the battery just sits in the tone/volume pot compartment. They're pretty quiet and give MASSIVE output. I will never use another type of humbucker. EMG 81's are the shit.

I forgot to mention my tubes:

JJ ECC83S in the preamp
JJ 6L6 GC in the poweramp

JJ tubes are badass and relatively affordable. Contact Bob at http://www.eurotubes.com for more info.

Actually, I am a full-time college student with a part-time job. I've been slowly adding to my guitar gear since '96 or so. Sometimes sleep is more of a luxury than a regular occurance, but hey, you can sleep when you're dead, right?

Let's see... I'm 30 now, and I gathered all this stuff over more than 10 years... I've been playing since i was 9. And I buy a lot of things used.

You have to set your priorities. My car for example is a 17 year old VW...

Actually you can get protools fairly cheap these days if you go with something like the mbox.

check out http://www.digidesign.com

I used to take classical guitar at the conservatory in Toronto, then took the RGT exams, so teaching from home helps to make more income than to teach at a guitar shop of sorts. The trick is to have a good advertisement or flyer of sorts and determination. Because I'm also in school at the moment for professional recording arts...I'm pretty much a broke fella until all this whoring of volunteer work and jamming starts paying off...eventually I want to compose for film, got a lot of bad times to tread through before any financial stability without a day job :(

EDIT:

THanks for the comment on the avatar, yep I'm a geek. I practice the lucid dreaming/out of body experience and alternate methods of thinking, hey why not? I've been to space further than any telescope could go

Wellll.... yeah I have a full time job, but I've been getting stuff since I was 13, and I think I've owned over 10 guitars over the years...however I trade in...like an idiot...I wish I kept stuff. And my head and cab together were about 2100 canadian...so your stuff actually costs more than what I bought. But yeah its just supporting your habits, and your interests that drives you to collect and use the things you love.
