Just had a few problems with wiring it together. The wires from the pickups seem to be extremely brittle, so I am having to rethink a few things.

Hopefully by tonight I will have the thing in its first stage of completeness!

And I imagine it will sound like a donkey. On crack. Overdosing.

That's gotta be worth hearing!

Hopefully it will be! I have had the strings on already but I had to change some things. Hopefully when I come to tune it properly it wont totally explode. It wouldnt be the first time that has happened. It is frustrating that I havent been able to finish it already.

Hopefully by tonight I will have an MP3 of whatever noise comes out of this beast.

As for the finish, I think I will paint the pickup assembly black, along with the bridge and neck, but the rest of the body I will paint white. I will then doodle all over it, so it should look pretty neat.

I am leaning towards naming it "The Brain Shitter", as suggested by a friend of mine. Or perhaps "Shirley the Brain Shitter".

Aaah, I wish I wasnt at work just now so I could be finishing this thing.

Are you sure that thing is going to be OK? As far as I know, most acoustic guitars aren't happy with the tension that the steel electric guitar strings require...

Well, I wired it up, and sure enough...it sounds terrible! It was a huge thrill to fire the thing up, but I think I will tinker a few more things before I finally paint it.

Well, it was already strung with very light steel strings. I had expected that the body modifications would affect the body when under tension before I started this. To be honest I am surprised the whole thing didn't snap when I tuned it up.

Make no mistake though, this guitar is definitely not happy! It currently sounds like the aforementioned donkey. Not that there is anything wrong with donkeys of course.

Hey dudes and dudettes,

Just realised I hadn't put any more info in here in a while. Oops!

Well, the thing is still almost finished. I am pretty sure that I have wired the pickups out of phase, upside down and possibly in parallel. Basically as wrong as I could have done it. Doh! And I still need to do the paint job. The current name leading the pack is "The Brain Shitter", just for sheer weirdness.

I also have a wee amp I can (ab)use it with, a Zoom G1 pedal. Oh, and a Marlin Loner electric guitar. Like, a real guitar. A cheap one, but a real one.

Also, if I was going to record a sample of this mighty unmusical beast (T.B.S), what would be the best way to distribute it so you can all enjoy its sonic sickness? I was thinking maybe just a youtube video of some kind. No? Yes?

Aaaah!

Aaaah!

Why not abbreviate 'Might Unmusical Beast?' The MUB? MONGAMUB? The Brain Shitter is also a spectacular name.

And yes, a youtube video would be awesome!

Holy mango crap...has it really been this long? I can't believe I last properly worked on this thing in September last year. I would hate for anyone to think that I always get overly excited about a project and then abandon it half way through! Though it has been known to happen. I would much rather that I, Blazingmonga, David, Mango, me, have the reputation of somebody that always follows through!

Anyway,

The Wooden Axe of Doom AKA...The Brain Shitter (TBS) has gained a new lease of life. I have resuscitated it, brought it back from the dead. It has now entered the FINAL PHASE of its metamorphasis from a useless unmusical lump of wood into....a work of art (though also still useless and unmusical).

This week I completed the wiring, totally. My first attempt at wiring it up was totally crap! The pickups were on back to front, out of phase and everything was really craply grounded. Now I have them fitted correctly, wired in a phase change switch and also fitted a neato grounding post to connect to a neato aluminium-foil-ified bridge. Woo!

I have also bought my primer, undercoat as well as some black acrylic paints and fancy brushes. Once I strip it all down I can start the fun part....painting it!
