I've left it far too long...

Its uploading as we speak, its 300 mb all up which isn't much but you'll have to pardon my crappy australian "internet" connection. Its up to 189 mb and I started 6 hours ago...

Its going to be on google videos.

Its still processing, not sure how long that takes but the title to search for will be 'Devin Townsend - Great Average Guitar Video' and the file name is 'great_average_guitar.avi'. I've set it so you can download it to.

lolomgomgomgomg this is going to make some people angry but a lot more others happy.

Just got done watching. Totally awesome video... I'd never seen either of the two ESP Teles he showed off in the little 'Guitars' section. He seemed a bit, uhh... "Uneasy" in the first few minutes or so.

"Sweeping is another thing often used Masturbatorlity. Is that a word? It is now. Masturbatorlity is a southren term, meaning 'melting wax.'"

Anyway, like said before, you're legendary for this.

Thanks again.

I knew about the Ron Wood guitar he had but I'd never seen the Infinity model before, wonder what happened to that one....

"And whilst we're on the subject of me being a whore"

Absolute classic.

Thread resurrection!

I stumbled onto this tuning by trial & error. Originally I was playing in drop C. I really enjoyed the CGC layout of the bottom strings, & started thinking about how to do it all the way across the guitar.

I came up with AEAEAE. It's the same range as a 7 string guitar tuned to drop A, on six strings. I use a 10-46 set, remove the .026 string, & add a .064 low.

Worked good on my 25.5" scale guitars, but floppy on my 24.75". So I went up a half step, & that worked better.

Then I started listening to Devin, & fell in love with the DTB albums (not so much SYL, but that's beside the point). I heard him describe his tuning in the Ziltoid video, & that high E opened up a new world to me. I tuned the high string down on my guitars (so Bb-F-Bb-F-Bb-F-D) & loved it. I still had one guitar strung up for drop C (10-56) & tuned it to Devin's setup, & now I think I may go back up to open C for all my guitars.

I'm a home recording enthusiast, I've got 20+ tunes up on my MySpace page (it links to my SoundClick player) if anyone cares to hear the various tunings.

I'm most proud of the newest tune, "Robin-034". I wasn't listening to Devin yet when I wrote & recorded it, but damned if I don't hear why I love his music when I listen to it. :)

mo, add request sent.
