Peavey 5150 re-tubed by Bob Pletka (http://www.eurotubes.com/)
Peavey 5150 4x12 cabinet.
Currently I have a B52 AT100 head and a B52 ST2x12 cab. Im probably going to sell both to get either a Peavey JSX or 5150 combo pretty soon though.
Yeah.
Well I ended up getting a H&K Trilogy and me like. Sounds fairly massive for its price (dont have money to buy a dual rec, soldano, etc) and thought the versatilty of channels was pretty groovy... Still gotta buy a second hand marshall 1960 cab whenever I can get around to it.
ENGL Powerball+ 4x12 Mesa cab. wich I use with my somewhat tech. deathmetal band. And it is by far the best amp i´ve ever played, superb gain sound and a fairly versatile amp too...
Line 6 pod pro, IMG power amp, Yamaha 32 band eq into a 4x12 laney cab. which I use for my other prog. deathmetal band, the reason I use this setup is because of the more digital, tight sounding gain I can get from the pod + this is also a very versatile setup which is really needed in this band because of the acoustic and more mellow parts...

ENGL ENGL ENGL ENGL. I play the Savage 120. All the ENGLs I've tried kick the complete shit out of any other amp.

I'm a Engl user myself, and they are amazing amps, but I still firmly believe the Bogner Ecstacy has a better sound than the Engl amps, and a Matchless amps will kick the shit out of any amp when it comes to clean sounds.
Then again, it's also in the fingers, and an everlasting quest of opinions.
Im still playing on the cheap little 15 watt amp i bought when i started playing guitar about 3 years ago..
i guess a new amp will come this year.

I actually never played an ecstacy. I'd be interested to try. What all cabs have you played your p-ball through? I seem to have a bitch of time finding a cab that matches well besides an engl cab. My randall sounds alot better than the v30 marshall I used to have but it's still not the shit. I did play through a mesa cab and it was pretty bitchin.

I've played through a Hughes & Kettner cab, which sounded shit. The original Engl cabinets sound pretty good. I bought a Mesa Boogie cabinet, because it just sounds a little better AND has more depth and low freqencies in it. And again, to my personal opinion, the Bogner cab sounded even better when I played through it, but was just too expensive.
So, I'd go for the original Engl cab or a Mesa Boogie. Bogner, if you have the money.
everyone!
since i play a show on saturday (the day after tomorrow in my timezone), and the marshall head i usually use for gigs is not available, i think about using my 30 watt fender combo.
of course i could ask someone to lend me their amp, but i love the sound of the tiny poopmachine. my question to you is:
has anybody ever played a 30 watt combo on a concert? can you recommend it? of course, the amps will be mic'd and go through the mighty p.a., so we're not gonna use the backline for the big sound.
there are approximately 200 people in the audience, and it's an open air festival, if that matters.
my main concern is that the little speaker can't bring on the bass to make the guitar sound heavy. can this be fixed by the sound man?
thanks in advance, and please pardon my rookie-knowledge
