Hi all!

Just needing a little advise on how to get the best sound for a demo im working on, we've already done the drum tracks (which costed toooooooo fucking much) and i've decided to mix the guitars, bass and samples myself, now this isn't my first time doing this as i have done it for bands in the past, but as this is MY band that I'm writing everything for, i don't want to put out any crap, so I'm getting as much advise as possable...

Im thinking of using a jcm2000 tsl, only because thats all I have, what have you people used in the past? I was gonna ask on some other forums, but i assumed you guys would know a thing or two about downtuned guitars...

I tune to Drop B by the way.

Use less distortion on the guitars than you would normally. If you are doing metal you should double-track the rhythm guitars and put them hard left and hard right and too much distortion takes away the clarity.

Don't kill all the mids on the guitars because then they'll have no body or power. Rather, roll off the bass end and emphasize the upper mids and trebles.

Use two or three seperate inputs for the bass, perhaps two from mics on a cabinet and one DI taken from a splitter or from the back of your amp. That way you can blend a few sounds to get the right attack and clarity but also sustain and thickness. Again, don't use too much distortion.

Any amps will be fine so long as you EQ them right and put the mics in the right position. Obviously though the better quality the amp is the better the sound will be. I'm not a big Marshall fan but I had to use them for my Devy cover and it turned out OK I thought.
