The world has lost a true innovator, a legend, a hero, an ambassador of uniqueness and preservation of the self against the whitewash of cultural assimilation.

You may know him as the man who photographed Battersea Power Station for the front cover of Pink Floyd's Animals. The man who provided art direction for Peter Gabriel and Led Zeppelin, the man who took the first promotional photos for Sex Pistols, the man who shot video clips for Nine Inch Nails, Paul McCartney, Rage Against the Machine and so many others...

Peter was a founding member of Throbbing Gristle, one of the most important acts of all time. Punk before Punk, sampling before Hip-Hop, bringers of riots, disgrace and controversy.... Asking Britain and the rest of the world to wake the fuck up and take a good look around them. "Wreckers of civilization" according to UK parliament. Over 20+ years in Coil, Peter left us a profound and affecting musickal world view. Following the passing of Jhonn Balance, SoiSong and The Threshold HouseBoys Choir continued the progression of Peter's unique voice in musick.

I am not ashamed to say that I love the man. He was a complete and utter inspiration in so many ways that it's not only impossible to do justice to but also indescribably difficult to comprehend now that he is gone. I found out yesterday shortly after arriving at Narita Airport in Tokyo and have been trying to drink and smoke my way to some sort of passivity ever since. Peter would not want us to be sad... Indeed, for someone whose musick was so frequently sinister, he had remarkable compassion and concern for everyone around him, and was always a perfect gentleman to me and to everyone else who ever had the pleasure of communicating with him.

This video link is not intended to be an introduction for those of you who have not heard Peter's musick. This is a tribute, a wave goodbye, a means by which to comprehend that we have lost one of the greatest artists of our era.

Goodbye Peter.

"Sleazy" was in so many musical outfits that equally soothed & scar(r)ed my ears over the years. Such a loss to adventurous, rousing music.

A quote was that more people that didn't know him were influenced by his work than probably those that followed him, such was a lot of it's stature.

May he and Jhonn Balance be already making music again on whatever astral plane they're at.

Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, iconic covers from Hipgnosis and music videos from Van Halen to Ministry. Can't say dude was wasting time.
