Least cool thing? It sounds crap.

Second least cool thing? It looks utterly whack. (hey Swervedriver, perhaps it's the instrument for you?)

I could see myself using this thing just for the crud factor of the sound. Ya know, if I wanna make gross noise. That's about it.

It's ugly though.

*facepalm*

That's not a guitar, it's a keyboard shaped like one. :P

yeah, guess i should have posted there!

it's just the patch he's using, he could use anything that is midi enabled.
And yes, looks like the kind of thing Rudess would take ontour!

Your washing machine runs on linux, so why wouldn't a guitar? :P

The more I look at it, the more it seems like something Apple would make (minus the opensource bit). It's white and has a touchscreen, but it's not necessarily better than its cheaper alternatives (i.e. a real guitar).

Besides, I'm not sure why they've stuck to the guitar shape. I mean, if you're going to design a new instrument (that's what it really is if you ask me), surely they could have come up with a more ergonomic shape than a traditional guitar?

As for it sounding like shit, part of the deal is that the sound can be re-programmed of course. It'll sound as good as your samples.

Kinda reminds me of an incredibly simple version of that new Eigenharp instrument:

Bitcrushed to 8 bit and less, morelike. 16 bit is teh CD audio resolution.

It's rather funky MIDI controller for sure.

I think for what it is, and as an early attempt, it's pretty rad.

Not gonna kick out the actual guitar anytime soon, but maybe it's a great starting place for something different
