I kinda know what you mean. On my fashion course I am the only person who listens to metal. Everyone is into poppy dancey stuff, which although I dont mind, they just happen to like the dancey stuff I hate. Which is a little bit of a bummer. (If I hear Lady fucking GaGa one more time I will be forced to kill. )

What I meant above was that on my way to the infinite wisdow, one of the biggest steps I've taken so far was realising and accepting that the music you like is just your opinion. It's no better than anyone elses so stop being so goddamn elitist about everything.

Since I like so many different types of music (and been around so long listening to it),I can kinda switch gears depending who I'm with without bullshiting about interest. When it comes to metal, 'specially what we dig 'round here, though, vertually none of my friends the same age relate. There is still a big age stigma attached to metal intrest. I've gleefully defended loving metal 'at my age' many times

That's a good outlook. There is a fine line between feigning interest to be polite and really caring about someone elses' taste though it may be different eh? When the difference is too drastic, it gets harder to really be interested, ya know?
