Haven't played it for long... maybe half a year + ... but im gettin the hang of it pretty quick... winning quite often, its all good

I've had a couple of poker nights with my mates, for £5. First one was with 11 people and i came 4th (the people that came 1st and 3rd are really good, playing it for ages n stuff)... and the most recent one with 6 people, i won :) ... and i made a profit of £10 for playing a game, pretty cool stuff

Just for the hell of it, one day in the future, i can see myself entering a $260 one or something, in a beautiful casino in America, just for the experience... if i lost i actually wouldn't mind that much, cus i'd have had a great time...

The World Series of Poker's main event is $40,000 buy in, s'crazy... and no, i wouldn't ever enter that (unless i became a millionaire from playing poker... like a lot of the guys who enter it)

I'm a Texas Hold 'Em fanatic. I usually do pretty well. Not great... but fair enough. All I know is, much money has gone from and been put back into my hands from playing, which is really the only way to play: something has to be at risk for the full game experience. Keeker knows what I am talking about.

Keeker wishes she'd been in better fettle that evening. She really wanted to win one so she could shout, "UP YER KILT!" to the table at large. :P

I heard that some folks make serious money playing online poker, winning hundreds of thousands of euros a month. Damn!

No no, month after month. It's a matter of choosing your opponents carefully.

Then the next month, handing 60% of it all in for 'lottery tax' :P

Yeah, poker has boomed in the last decade... there is some SERIOUS money on the line nowadays

The World Series of Poker Texas Hold'em main championship is $10,000 buy in (what you pay to play)... (i said 40,000 earlier, not sure why)... but i never said the what the 'payout' is...

If you win, you get... $9,152,416

(for 2008, it gets more every year with more people entering)

The guy who won last year is called Peter Eastgate, and he was 22! (Youngest person to ever win it)
Imagine having so much money at that age... you could do so many things

Grounds Keeper Willie's accent is, errm, somewhat unique. As for the poker... I was having a hard enough time learning to play sober! :P

Talk to my uncle...lol

He took it to the real tables at a local "casino" and ended up in a celebrity poker tournament in California, he ended up losing though...but if he won that it would have been instant buy in to the World Series of Poker. He's also played and beat previous champs and runners up. But it is a problem for him after all is said and done.

And good Keeker, lol. I'm sure you've met at least one person who has an accent like Grounds Keeper Willie?!

^^ I would have liked to witness that Keeker. :D

So - a random occurrence:
I went to a friend's house today, to play some music. It had been fun for a while. At one point I was getting lazy and not very creative, so I thought I'd pull some Porcupine Tree parts out of my bag of stock things that always sound good and no one's ever heard before. At least no one I know.

I played parts of Shallow, it grooves and is fun to play. During one of the big slides in the song, I guess I went nuts and ended up with an open wound on my ring finger. The first two or so layers of epidermis just scraped off and chilled out on the string. It was a terrible terrible pain. Plus my hands sweat copiously when I'm playing, and the sweat was really burning.

Alright - maybe more than anyone needed to know. But I thought I'd fling that little piece of info into cyberspace.

Ow. I prescribe alcohol. And you know that putting this info on the web you're going to start having Facebook advertise plasters and skin grafts to you, don't you?

And nice weak fingers too :P try playing on a regular guitar and practicing arpeggios for an hour, on those thin thin first 3 strings! lol

Good advice. I put some alcohol on it, and it burned but now it's better. Ew facebook and it's crappy stalkery advertisments.

It was!! Ok, let me clarify so you don't think I'm a total weakling: we had already been playing for some time - maybe 3 hours or so. I have half wound strings which make things a little easier on the fingers, but they'll still get you in the end! And since I use a fretless bass - those slides mean business! They will eat your fingers up if you really dig in there!

Alight. You get the idea
