Asamoah Gyan is my new World Cup hero. :D Christ that was some game. Delighted for Ghana. You never know, they were solid against the might of Germany... They could yet go even further!

The US were great this tournament and most of their top players will be back for another go in 4 years time and maybe they can go a bit further. Regardless of going out or not there's gonna be a huge new respect for football in America after this tournament because they've been wonderfully entertaining all tournament.

While I am a US citizen, I'm not mad about Ghana. I've been following them the last two world cups and I believe they deserve some respect. They've been playing so well, and I think they might be able to surprise some people in quarters.

The Germans are actually picking them apart. England are being properly schooled on what good football is in this game. Germany could win by a mile if they keep this up.

Edit: I spoke waaaay too soon! Good work from Upson. Awful keeping from Neuer... And that goal that just went in there but didn't count just proves the need for technology to be in the game. A clear goal, half way in the goal but the linesman was too far back to spot it. Awful. England can feel hard done by there. It should be 2-2.

SEPP BLATTER ARE YOU WATCHING.

England were well and truly mu(e)llered today. Awful performance all around, and I don't think that the obviously atrocious call on the goal from Lampard should overshadow the performance and become and excuse. Sure, it would've given them a boost and 2-1 is different to 2-2 but the Germans ran rings around the English lads today. There was a clear gap in quality, particularly in defense. Germans deservedly march on to another big game next week, and the English really need to go home and take a big, big look at themselves.

Yeah yeah, we were poor as fuck and we know it.

Capello also needs sacking now. Let's have an Englishman again pls.

So England really were shit then? I only saw the first 30 minutes of the game and it seemed entertaining to me, both sides pretty equal and both had goalscoring opportunities, I could even hear some fans singing, over the drone of the vuvuzelas.

I'm surprized...Germany actually made it. Way cool! And yeah, it should have been 2-2 but to me, obviously, it does not matter whether the game ends 4-1 or 4-2. :P

well, but as well as Germany played today...how on earth are they supposed to beat Argentina? No idea...

is it alarming if the other team gets 25 penalties and the other one gets 10?

I do wonder if he'll get in trouble for that... Cos it would be annoying to get hit in the face by a camera, to be fair.

Not like it was done on purpose though, but I do understand that in the heat of the moment it's hard to pay attention to everything. If anything they should probably just tell him to cool it, and let it go.

There are two people that have irritated me at this world cup, Heinze being one, Luis Suárez being the other.

Of course my initial thought is "NOOO!" but I thought it could go either way beforehand. The US didn't perform at the level they needed to--simple as that. I'm anxious to see how well Ghana can keep their run up.

And Germany absolutely destroyed England yesterday. Good news for the Germans, except that now they face Argentina. :? Anyway, England wasn't as abysmal as they have been, but when you're playing a team that's more capable than those you faced in the group stage, it's probably better to expect a tougher fight. Maybe they were broken-hearted by their disallowed goal, but that didn't stop the Americans (twice) until Ghana beat them outright.

Good games slated for today, although I expect at the end we'll find the Netherlands set to play Brazil. Fun. :D

I said the same thing yesterday talking to people about the game. It didn't keep the US from winning their games despite their disallowed goals. Bottom line is...Germany scored 4 times, England didn't, heh. The game against Argentina should be an über-tough game for them though. I can already see myself, all depressed on Saturday

I'm looking forward to Brazil vs. Chile today and Portugal vs. Spain tomorrow. Should be very entertaining games!
