Why would someone throw a Halloween party on the 20th?? It's not right! I'm not going!

We have one on the 27th... because it is a Saturday and that's when parents can take their kids to the village hall and they can all dress up and eat treacle scones off strings and dook for apples and all that without having to worry about being up late.

Plus the school has its own afternoon party on the 31st. So the kids get two.. that can't be bad. :P

"Dook for apples". I like that. :D What exactly are treacle scones?

The 27th I could deal with. This annual Halloween party is usually the Saturday before the 31st. The 20th is just too early. Plus, I don't have a costume planned, and I'm failing to come up with any original ideas for one.

They're going to make me dress-up at work anyways.

Bah, humbug! :P

Treacle scones. You hang the, usually, triangular floury type of scones (pronounced 'skon') from strings along a line. They are covered in treacle (molasses). Competitors stand with hands behind back and attempt to be first to eat the thing. Messy and sticky. Sometimes you use doughnuts or pancakes these days.

And yes, dookin' for apples is fun, if wet. The alternative, less wet, method is to stand on a chair with a fork between your teeth, which you then drop into the water in an attempt to stab an apple.

Several other similarly messy games get played too.

Good luck with your guising costume too... keep us posted on what you choose. :)

Mmm, coffee....

Yes, we were able to shop in Toronto. I was able to pick up the Metalocalypse DVD and a KMFDM CD I didn't have (It was a re-issue, and the original pressing being quite rare being it was re-called for copyright infringement in 1992 which is why I don't have it)

My cousin's son died from a brain tumour. 29 is way too young to die.
He still seemed so bright too when we exchanged email and photos just three weeks ago.

What a shitty thing.
