Just read an article about a member of the French parliament who's a metal fan, naming Devin among others. Damn, so all hope isn't lost with politicians ?

(the interview is because some christian associations tried to prevent the hellfest from happening, because of the lyrics of some of the bands)

Translation of the paragrpah naming Dev :

Is it the reason why you came to Hellfest?

No, I'm here primarily for the music! I can't see Kiss tonight unfortunately, but I'll have the chance to see classics such as Motörhead, Saxon, Exodus ... And also some favorites (note: not sure how to exactly translate the french expression, it's a sort of mix between favorite and crush), like Devin Townsend, very close to progressive rock, my favorite style (note: in another article he names Dream Theatre and Opeth). What I like about this festival is that there is no "cheating" and that this is metal as it is. I don't want this style to become popular only because of quiet songs or ballads (although Still Loving You by Scorpions is perfect, I grant you). Metal should remain violent and offbeat, with its folklore, its t-shirts and colorful costumes, and especially, its good mood. It is much safer in my opinion to come to Hellfest than attend a football match ...

The guy also went on stage with mass hysteria (famous metal band in France), playing guitar (an explorer) and singing as well. Awesome

Oh yeah I forgot, the french soccer team is totally awesome too

Yeaaaah VIP tickets to a dev show :P

So if the world were my oyster, I'd find a girl who'd be stoked to go and truly the night would be perfect. The reality? Still a pleasant one, as my brother and I will go and have a grand ol time.

That should go in the "Most metal object" thread that we had years ago.

The Mahut - Isner tennis match at Wimbledon. Into its third day, 59 games all in the fifth set and set to resume this afternoon. Incredible.

Those two were fucking nuts. Mahut didn't even look in that much of a state last night. Flailing and diving about the place at 55-55 or something. It was quite something watching history. The likes of that will probably never be seen again...

I shouldn't think so.

Isner won 70 games to 68... hell of a show. I was glad to see they both got special trophies at the end.
