Scott Hull from Pig Destroyer will be mixing my grindcore band's (Malicious Hate) CD. I guess the guy that is putting it out for us has him mixing all his releases now...

Caught this on Devin's Twitter page:

"Doing samples for Storm, Gaia, Gato and Deep Peace. Watching 'Grizzly Man' ...such a great, strange movie!"

I might not get the chance to see these played live in the very near future, but that is still a kick-ass bunch of tunes right there!

Figuring out how to block off my new guitar's special trem system. Has some special "Zero Resistance" Ibanez tremolo, but I hate any locking trem, so I had to do some good old rigging on it. Needless to say, it plays like a dream and the bridge doesnt move at all anymore :D

Congrats Billy, I bet you were beaming just as much.

Anyways, learning today I officially have Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome. And in less then 2 months I shall have an op and actually be cured of it. Now just to muster the strength to continue through 2 months of agony. Fingers crossed.

A teacher of mine was unsure about a certain topic. When she tried to find more info, she started looking at some slides I had made for a presentation for a different course last year :P

Got my Agricultural Holding Number - am officially a smallholder now.

Gave my credit card a major caning for fencing materials this morning. Never thought I would spend so much money on some wood and bits of wire that wasn't in fact a 1976 Gibson Explorer but WTF. I am sure I am going to get used to spending huge sums of money I don't have over the next few months.

Erkk. What's that? Don't know about that one. Done RPA, RLR, AHO and SVS. Don't have to do BCMS as I don't have cattle. Have filled in enough forms to wallpaper a barn. Not heard of IAACS yet. Institute of Advanced Architecture in Catalunya? Do I have to write a cheque while filling it out? Bet I do. Seem to have to pay everyone for everything at the moment. Next time I hear someone chuntering about greedy farmers just getting handouts all the time I shall punch them.

Firstly, apologies for my finger stutter - it's IACS. The Integrated Administration and Control System (Already sounds like something that should be in charge of the Trident nuclear deterrent doesn't it?)

To be honest I'm not entirely sure if it maybe has a different name in England. It's the European monstrosity of rural payments under the Scotland Rural Development Programme. The Single Farm Payment scheme for farmers and crofters. I have no idea what acreage constitutes a croft or if your small-holding qualifies but it looks as though you've already been through the form-filling wringer.

This isn't for the 'awesome' thread at all but I just HAVE to type some of this stuff out because it's priceless! We get this big fat pack every year in the mail. Within you find what is amusingly called, "The Single Application Form (SAF) 2010. This consists of THREE A3 sized forms, TWO ten page booklet forms, a thirty two page A4 booklet of Notes for Guidance IACS(1) 2010 and another thirty two page A4 booklet on Notes for Completion IACS(1a) 2010, five A4 sheets of various other information and guidance notes on the same crap. Second last comes a charmingly glossy little A5 booklet entitled, "A Vision for Scottish Agriculture." (I suspect the only vision these people had was when they spent too long in the pub at lunchtime.) The language and acronyms used in all these booklets and guides is worth an essay all on its own. I'm never closer to voting UKIP than after I've sifted through these! :P

Now! Best of all there's another glossy leaflet with a photo of a hand throwing a crumpled bit of paper in the bin and in large print it announces, "Help us reduce waste!" and then asks you to fill out the whole gubbins online. By golly, I could give them some suggestions as to how to reduce waste all right! :chain:

Ah, okay, I think that is the Rural Payments Agency this side of the border.

I have several hundred forms and pamphlets that have made the postlady curse me as she struggles to deliver them every day. Although I must say all the peopel I have spoken to at DEFRA and the various agencies have been really pleasant and helpful talking me through everything I need to do (once I have managed to navigate past the endless automated answering services and actually speak to a human).

I haven't even looked at the Single Payment Scheme application yet. It seems hideously complex. I qualify in acreage (hectarage?) terms but haven't got my head around the Statutory Management requirements yet. Although I should do so. I just seem to be haemorrhaging money at the moment. Just about to spend another sphincter-tightening sum on electric fence materials. I dare not calculate the payback time.

Yes, yes it is hideously complex, although probably looks worse than it is in reality. I say, bravely. If you qualify get it filled in as it will give you back some money at the back end of the year. Not a lot, but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. The government are frequently late in paying it down your way I hear, but you won't get interest. However, if YOU are late with your application you'll get penalised and lose some or even all the payment. Natch. (We can't actually claim for our own land as it is rented out so the guy that rents it claims.) Up here the cut-off date is 17 May.
