"Closure" was stunning, there was a huge keyboard solo and it went all Mars Volta-ish for a good few minutes there, really hypnotic and trance-like. Mendez said he is keen on TMV also, so maybe it is deliberate.
"White Cluster" seemed to be the other highlight, and "The Amen Corner" was wonderful with the keyboards. "The Grand Conjuration" was pretty fuckin heavy, I like it a fair bit better now. It's all about that intro riff
I was quite impressed with the guy who filled in for Lopez, the Bloodbath drummer whose name I cannot recall... He was excellent. He has learnt the parts amazingly well and handled himself wonderfully. He's not as loose as Lopez so it seemed a bit more metal, but it was still nice.
A kickin show indeed.
Oh yes, and hasn't Akerfeldt become quite the comedian? Funny shit. I think he's been listening hard to Devin's onstage rants
