I still haven't sent off my passport to get it replaced as I can't recall my Social Security number.

Then again, if the wrong asshole wins, I may just neglect it all together.

Actually, I probably still should, if only to update my visa.

My dad's racial hate has really come out this election... Really sucks.

Jokes are one thing, but when you actually mean it... It's scary stuff.

^I hate that as well. Nothing like politics and religion to tear people apart.

At least the lesser of two evils won.

I can imagine. I have a mixed family.

Watching one of my (very Republican) uncles having a shouting match with his son (he's slightly left of center) over the election was something I watched with a kind of perverse amazement. My cousin was arguing he didn't care much for Obama, but thought his policies were better than Romney's, whereas my uncle was of the mindset that Romney was God's gift to conservatives.
When my opinion was asked, I said I didn't care much for either candidate, as Obama wasn't as impressive as he was four years ago, but better to go with the devil you know than the one who changes his mind every 5 seconds. More great, alcohol-fueled discussion followed.
This is why I'd rather discuss politics with my grandfather. He's a Democrat, but has informed and fair opinions about both parties, rather than the extreme partisan opinions a lot of people seem to have these days.

Good job America, we can now call ourselves the land of people who barely didn't fuck up. "I GOT A D- ! I GOT A D- !"

On an unpolitical note, planning your budget based around loan repayments is quite a difficult thing.

if you think about it. It was amazing enough to have a colored man be elected president of the US 4 years ago. But this time around a colored president was re-elected despite a HIGHLY hostile climate and that same guy spoke out for same sex marriage WHILE he was president, not 10 years after. I think that is quite remarkable. And obviously that's exactly how things should be.

That IS pretty awesome. He even won with a rather good margin. Some faith in humanity has been restored. : D

Faith in humanity is lovely thing to have. And this certainly is one of the most liberal US elections I have been alive during. So many things that weren't restrictive were rejected and things that were accepting have been voted into law.

I can't help but thinking about all those nutters I have seen interviews of lately, going "Obama is a muslim atheist communist and gay marriage will doom us all" and whatnot, and then sigh in relief that they are not in the majority. :D

Colorado and Washington just declared recreational marijuana use legal as well. Way to go, America! You're havin' a good week.

Indeed. Only two really bad amendments this election cycle.
