If you have access to meat, cheese, and bread/buns, you can make a cheeseburger. Pickles, onions and sauce is just an added bonus.
It might be hard if you're a vegetarian. But there are ways around that.

Definitely more polite in English... but that's just culture I think. I tend to take my "please" and "thank you" back to Norway, only to realise how people are not used to that at all. :D

I'd find it very difficult NOT to say please and thank you, even when speaking in another language... It would just feel insanely rude!

I used to work in an environment where people spoke a bunch of different languages and I learned please and thank you in quite a few of them just to put people at ease. I used to get looks of astonishment from some folks, usually followed by a big grin.
